*scritch-scratch*

I hear the scratching of what sounds like claws on the island counter in the kitchen. I crawl around, pot in hand, and ready to catch. I peek over the counter and see the culprit of the scratching.

On the counter is a small dog-like creature. But it's not a dog, or is it? It kinda looks like a Chihuahua. I don't know. If I am to go with the more cool option I'd say is, what one would call, a goblin. A small goblin. Pretty much an evil, small dog, so yeah a Chihuahua.

It was gray with darker gray, almost black, spots on its back and head. It had long pointy ears and a lizard like tail. Also, it had sharp claws on its hands and feet. And its eyes were a yellowy-orange.

I watch the goblin as it rummages through the cookie jar. What is it looking for? Cookies? Well it's not going to find any there. (I may have ate them all) When it isn't looking I raise my pot to catch in. It sees me and tries to run right as I bring the pot down. It hits the counter with a loud bang. 'Oh I really hope Mandy didn't hear that!' I think, worried my older sister would come down and see what I'm doing.

"What was that?" I hear Tay, my sister's friend, say from upstairs. Just my luck. I look around for a place to hide my "catch of the day" but too late! Mandy and her friend are already down staring at the girl with an upside down pot on the counter, which by the way is me.

I let out a nervous laugh, "h-hey sis..."

"Minka," Mandy says, "What are you doing?" she looks at me with a confused expression.

Well, I guess I'll tell her the truth, "I caught a goblin!" I say excitedly.

"A what?" she asks tilting her head slightly.

"Seriously he's under this pot!"

Mandy rolls her eyes and walks over. She grabs the pot and lifts it up.

"No!" I gasp, "you'll let him ou- huh?!"

"There's nothing there Minka." Mandy says with a serious look.

I stare in shock. "Bu-but," I stutter, "No, I saw him! He was-" I look over to the stairs. "There!" I point to the goblin on top of a boy's head. The goblin quickly jumps down and runs across the room.

Mandy screams and jumps onto the counter. "What is that thing?!"

"I got it!" I call as I grab the pot and chase the small dog-like creature.

"Wait!" the boy runs over and takes the pot from me.

"Hey!" I snap at him. I see the goblin run away and hide somewhere in the kitchen. "Dangit! He got away!" I turn and glare at the boy. "I almost had him!" He crosses his arms and starts to say something but I cut him off. "Wait, who are you?" I ask, my mood changing instantly. He sighs.

Tay speaks up, "that's Jay, he came through Mandy's window."

I look at him. "You sir have earned my respect."

"Seriously?!" I hear Mandy say from the counter. I smirk at her then look back at Jay. He smiled back at me.

I notice the goblin go up to Mandy on the counter.

"I know where the knives are." Mandy threatens.

"Mandy don't be rude." Tay says, "We have guests."

Mandy glares at her.

Tay smiles. She looks at Jay. "Oh, by the way my name's Tay, the one spazzing is Mandy and the little one is Minka." she says.

"Cool." Jay says.

"So...no one's going to call me a small dog or...?" The goblin says.

Mandy screams and jumps off the counter. She runs across the room and hides behind Tay. "It spoke!" she says, "kill it!"

"Awesome!" Tay and I both say.

"Can I have one?" I ask Mandy.

"NO!" she screams.

"Rex, you're scaring her." Jay says to the goblin. Or as we now know: Rex.

"Better than being called a dog." Rex says.

"I was thinking it." I state.

"Same." Tay agrees.

"Oi."

Jay laughs. Rex turns to him. "We need to go!"

"Why?" Jay asks.

"Just come on." Rex says as he jumps off the counter and runs towards the back door.

"Fine." Jay sighs and follows him.

"Where are you going?" I ask.

"It's nothing important," Jay says, "No need to be concerned."

"Jay!" Rex calls.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming!" Jay calls back. He looks back at us. "See ya!" He waves and runs out the door.

We all stand there in confused silence.

"That was weird..." Tay says.

"Uh huh." I say.

"Yeah..." Mandy says. She turns toward the front door.

"Okay now where are you going?" Tay asks.

"I'm gonna follow them." Mandy replies.

"What?"

"You heard me." Mandy says, "Now if you're coming," she opens the door, "let's go."

"Through the front?" Tay asks.

"Don't want them finding out we're following them now do we?" Mandy says.

Tay hesitates. "Okay, let's go." She runs over to Mandy. Mandy turns and runs out the door and Tay follows behind her.

"Oh boy. This won't end well" I mutter to myself. I go over and close the door before going back to the kitchen and getting myself a juice box.
