Stolen by the Night

Riften's "situation"

Riften puffed out, embarrassed that he had to explain his "situation" to the boy he just saved. Not that he was scared of a stranger, oh no no no. Riften loved meeting new people. Riften began again, determined to get through this, "I was born a vampire because my dad was a vampire. He banged her and left. He knew he would only bring harm to her so he had to go and she had NEVER been bitten by him, not even when she begged him to. She gave birth to me 9 months later and I was was raised knowing I was a creature of the night. My mom told me not to tell and I didn't, but soon the school board found out and they called the demon hunters to "terminate" me and my mom. My mother hid me in a secret cubby in the floor board. I heard her say that she killed me and dumped my body, but they didn't believe her. They knew she was a human, but she had been "contaminated" by a vampire and had given birth to one. 'She has to be killed.' They said. I heard a gun shot and her hit the floor with a 'thud'. I sobbed silently and waited till they left. I crawled out of the cubby and saw my mom's lifeless body on the ground. I crawled to her and sobbed with all my saddened little heart." Riften wiped a tear from his eye and continued on, "Before I knew it, the house was set on fire by those terrible men. I felt a sudden anger and power fill my body and before I knew it, I had spread bat-like wings and flew to them. I lit them on fire with the wave of my hand and then I tore them apart without even having to touch them. I let their remains burn to ash. I flew away from my home and my home town. I never went back and I don't think I ever could." Jake had now noticed that Riften was shedding tear after tear and it looked awful sad for someone who he met as a cheerful person. Jake lifted his hand to Riften's face and wiped the tears away. Riften blushed a bit and said, "Thank you." Riften place his own hand on Jake's and Jake blushed a bit. Jake let his fall back to his side and he gestured Riften to go on. Riften began to finish his story, "Well, I flew here, found this place and lived here ever since. I was only 9 years old then." Riften smiled at Jake, hoping he didn't make Jake depressed at all. Jake asked, "Wait. I have a question." Riften replied in his happy tone, "Shoot~." Jake giggled a bit and asked, "What do you do... for food?" Jake was a bit scared. As far as he knew, vampires eat blood. Riften laughed and said, "Pppfft~! You think I eat blood, right~? Well, not all vampires eat blood. If you were a human but got changed, then yes, you need blood. But if you're born a vampire, you can eat whatever the heck you want~! But blood does sound good every now and then~..." Riften gave Jake a look that made Jake worry a bit. Riften felt like it'd be a bit fun to mess with his new friend. At least he hoped Jake was his friend. Jake gave Riften a worried look and said as Riften walked closer to him, who was still sitting on the bed, "R- Riften?" Riften pretended to sound like a zombie, "I. Want. BLOOD!" Riften pounced Jake and Jake covered his face with his arms. Jake had his eyes squeezed shut, but when he opened them, Riften hadn't landed on him, Riften was floating above Jake and watching him with a grin on his face. Riften laughed again, "Hahhaha~! You should've SEEN your FACE~! It was like 'oh no! Don't eat me!' HAHAHAHHAHA~!!!" Riften's face was a bright pink from laughing so much. He wiped a fake tear from his eye and said, "Awww~... That was good~..." Jake stood on the bed so he could talk to Riften face to face. Jake said in a annoyed tone, "Not. Funny. Riften." Riften began to see tears in the poor boy's eyes and he began to feel guilty. Riften hugged Jake and said, "I'm sorry." Jake started to blush a dark red. Riften saw Jake's face and said, "Well, isn't somebody a tomato today~!" Jake replied back, "Umm... Are you going to let go of me?" Riften looked like he just noticed that he was still hugging Jake and let go. Riften said, "Oh yeah. Sorry about that. I just never get to hug anybody anymore..." Jake saw a glint of loneliness within Riften's eyes. Jake opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by Riften saying, "I JUST WANNA HUUUUUUUGGGG~~~~!!!!!" Riften grabbed Jake and lifted him into the air. Jake started to freak out and said, "R- Riften! Put me d- down now!" Riften replied, "I don't wanna~." Riften pressed Jake's body to his and looked at Jake in the eyes. Jake began to get even redder. Riften wickedly grinned and started to twirl around the room, making Jake scream. Soon, Jake began to get used to it and it seemed rather fun. Riften noticed that Jake had stopped screaming and looked at him. Jake was smiling like a child in a toy store. Riften smiled at Jake, but Jake didn't notice. Riften decided that if he twirled any longer Jake was gonna throw up, so he place Jake carefully on the ground. Riften landing on the ground with him. Jake's blushed had finally faded away and Riften had noticed. Jake smiled at Riften and said happily, "That was actually... rather fun than I had anticipated!" Riften smiled and said, "Yeah~. I know~." Jake's face slowly faded back to a normal face. Jake asked, "So... Umm... I get to go home now, right?" Riften said, "Oh right. Yeah. You can go home if you want." Riften began to fade to a sad expression. Jake said, "But... I promise I'll come see you again... If you want." Riften smiled real big and said in a excited voice, "REALLY?!?!?" Jake giggled and said, "Yeah." Riften hugged Jake and said in a whisper, "Thank you." Jake hugged back this time and it felt good, like good-er than it should have. Riften pulled back but left his arms on Jake and looked him in the eyes and asked, "Hey, I never did get your name. Could you tell me?" Jake replied, "Oh yes. My name is Jake English. Pleasure to meet you, Riften." Jake extended his hand and Riften shook it giggling. Riften said, "Well, you don't have to be so formal about it~. Riften Augustus, at your service~." Jake smiled as Riften bowed like an actual gentleman. Riften looked up at Jake and smiled. Riften stood straight and said, "So... You ready to go home? I could fly you there." Jake smiled that kiddish smiled that Riften loved so much and said, "Really?! That'd be great!" Riften smiled and picked Jake up. Riften flew to the window and used his magic to open it. He flew out the window with Jake in his arms.
