Dirk woke and reached over to find the bed empty. Dirk shot up and looked around rapidly; no sign of Jake anywhere. Dirk shouted, "JAKE?!" Dirk stood from the bed, sweeping the blanket off of him. Dirk looked around the storage unit and didn't find the Brit. Dirk muttered, "Fuck... Fuck fuck fuck. FUCK! RIFTEN!"

Jake woke to find that his hands and feet were bounded and he was tied to a chair. The room he was in was dark but, suddenly, a pair of baby blue eyes glowed in the darkness. "Riften?" Jake questioned. The pair of eyes giggled in a girl's voice and suddenly, the lights came on. Who Jake saw before his eyes, he just couldn't believe it. It was no one other than Jane Crocker. She had her hands stretched to the air with a wide smile on her face. Her shirt was all black and had her baby blue symbol on it.

Jane's skirt was all black and her shoes were baby blue. Jane said, "I missed you sooooo much, Jakey! I even went looking for you, too! I catch myself in a bad situation but now look! Here you are!" Jake said, "Jane? Oh dear god, what's happened to you?!" Jane said, "Jake, I've experienced the best thing ever! And now I can live for eternity!" Jake's eyes went wide and he said, "You're a vampire..." Jane nodded and said, "Why, of course!" Jane stepped forward and put a finger under Jake's chin and said, "And what a better way to spend eternity with you..."

Dirk stood at Riften's door just outside when suddenly, he felt his heart quake with fear and the first that came to mind was, "Jake! Oh, God! Please be ok!" Dirk bursted down the door and shouted, "Riften! Where the fuck are you?!" Riften came down the stairs and said, "Right here." Dirk said, "Don't be playing shit, dude! Where's Jake?!" Riften went wide eyed and said, "Wait! You mean you don't have him?!" Dirk said, "Uh. Well, I did. But he disappeared and I thought you had him." Riften shook his head and said, "I wanted to leave him to his space."

Dirk asked, "Then, where is he?" Riften shrugged and said, "I've lost his scent." Riften sniffed a bit and could smell blood. He asked, "Dirk, did you bite Jake?" Dirk nodded and said, "But he told me to! And it was only on the wrist!" Riften smiled widely and said, "Then you should be able to track him with his blood in your veins!" Dirk suddenly felt another impulse and he knew where to go. Dirk said, "Try to keep up." Dirk shot out the door and Riften followed close behind.

Dirk ran all the way to an abandoned factory just outside of town. Dirk stopped outside and looked at the building and asked, "Why would he be here?" Riften said, "There's a gang of vamps here, Dirk." Dirk asked shocked, "What?!" Riften said, "A gang of highly professional kidnappers who take humans and turn them just to get more humans and build their stupid empire." Dirk fell silent and then asked, "What're we gonna do?" Riften said, "The question is, what are you gonna do? And that's stay out here. I'm more powerful and I could get Jake and escape easy without being detected."

Dirk said, "But I want to help! How're you gonna find him without me?" Riften said, "I can smell him from here." Dirk crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. Riften said, "I'll be back in a moment." Riften then flew up and went in through a window. He sneaked around in the dark building and as he sneaked in the shadows, he heard a girl say, "When do we get to turn him? I want me Jakey to be a vampire with me!" A older sounding woman said, "Soon enough, my child." The girl just huffed.

Riften continued until he was just outside a steel door that smelled too much like Jake. Riften put his hands against the door and used his powers to unlock the door. The door clicked open and Riften pulled the door open. Riften saw with his night vision in the darkness Jake; he had bruises and claw marks but thankfully, no bites. Riften neared Jake and said, "Jake, it's Riften. Come on. We've got to get out of here." Riften untied Jake and Jake said, "But Dirk said you attacked me." Riften sighed and said, "Now's not the time to talk about that."

Riften grabbed Jake's hand and they teleported just outside of the factory. Riften looked around and said, "Where's Dirk?" Jake asked, "Dirk was with you?" Riften nodded. Something didn't feel right to Riften, something bad was about to happen. Riften looked around and saw a small group of three vamps jump out from hiding and begin to charge at them. Riften used his magic to summon a sword and he shot a ball out fire at the group with one of his hands. He grabbed the sword and said, "Jake, don't get hurt." Riften charged at the group.

He sliced one of them clean in half and sliced at another, but he dodged it. Riften sliced back around and got the other through the skull. Riften looked around and thought, "There were three!" Riften turned to Jake and saw the vamp with his fangs next to his neck. Another vamp emerged from the darkness just behind the vamp. It looked to be an middle aged woman. She said in that same old woman's voice, "Hello, half blood. So nice to finally meet one of all my years." Riften stood still afraid that if he made a move, they'd bite Jake.

The woman said, "I can assure you, Mr. Augustus, that we don't want to hurt Mr. English." Riften gave a confused look and asked, "You don't?" The woman shook her head and said, "All I want is your power, Mr. Augustus." Riften asked, "How do you know my name?" The woman said, "I know a lot of things, Mr. Augustus. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Ms. Crocker, Betty Crocker. But I go by the Condescension now, or Condesce." Riften said, "Well, Condesce, why do you want my power?" Condesce nodded and said, "That is a excellent question."

Condesce took a small breath and said, "A half blood's power is quite rare and, frankly, quite powerful. You just haven't even unlocked your full potential, Mr. Augustus. I could do so much more with it than you ever could." Riften said, "You do realize that taking my powers would kill me, right?" Condesce smirked evilly and said, "Precisely, Mr. Augustus. So, which shall you choose? Your own eternal life or this mortal's temporary life?" Riften said, "First of all, where is Dirk?" Condesce snapped and two vamps threw him on the ground in front of Riften.

Riften crouched down and checked Dirk. Dirk looked up at Riften and said, "They put up one hell of a fight." Riften frowned and looked up at Condesce. He said, "I'll do it." Condesce smirked widely but Riften interrupted her joy, "But under one condition." Condesce rolled her eyes and and said, "And what would that be?" Riften said, "Let me teleport them home." Jake said, "Riften, no!" A vamp said, "Quiet, you!" Condesce sighed and said, "Do as you must. But make it quick, Mr. Augustus." The vamp let go of Jake and he stumbled forward.

Jake said, "Riften, you don't have to do this!" Riften lifted his hands and red fire like light came from his hands. Riften said, "Jake, you'd die for the one you love, right?" Jake said, "I would." Riften said, "Then I guess this is goodbye." Jake said, "Wait! Please, don't do this!" Riften said, "I have to, Jake. Make sure Dirk takes care of you, you beautiful flower of the Amazon." The red magic washed over the two boys and Jake shouted, "No!!" But he vanished.

Riften let his hands fall to his sides and tears ran down his faces. He fell to his knees and continued to cry. The Condesce walked over to him and loomed over him. She said, "You loved him, didn't you?" Riften didn't say anything. Condesce said, "I once loved someone. But in the end, they didn't love me. And my violent nature just caused me to kill him." A fuchsia colored tear fell on Riften's hand. He looked up at Condesce and she was in tears, trying to hold it back. Condesce said, "I've tried to gain enough power... To bring him back to life..."

Riften stood and looked up at Condesce, her still being slightly taller than him. He said, "I can help you, Betty. While still being alive. Just help me unlock this 'potential' you say I have." Condesce said, "Why should I help you?" Riften said, "Because I've seen a whole new person in you, Betty. I've seen who you really are. Let me help you." Condesce stood for a while in silence. Then, she shouted, "The half blood shall join us! And he shall not be culled!" Riften asked, "'Culled'?" Condesce said, "It means 'killed' in your term of speaking."

Riften nodded and all the vamps went into the old factory. Riften followed the Condesce up to her office where she'd train the half vamp to unlock his full potential.

Jake opened his eyes to find that he was back in his living room and he looked around rapidly. Dirk laid on the couch and Riften was nowhere to be seen. Jake said, "Did he really...? Is he... really gone?" Jake looked down at the floor, shocked and speechless. Dirk said weakly, "It's gonna be ok, Jake... He did the right thing..." Jake stood still then, nodded and said shakily, "Y- yeah. I g- guess he d- did do the r- right thing." Dirk stood weakly and pulled Jake in a hug from behind. Jake turned his head and said, "Dirk, you need to lay down and rest."

Dirk said, "But you need a hug, Jake. Don't tell me you don't because I know you do." Dirk let go and Jake turned around. Dirk pulled Jake into a hugged and fell back on the couch. Dirk had Jake laying on top of him and Dirk said, "Just lets stay like this a little longer." Jake sighed and laid down against Dirk's chest and they fell asleep soundly to the sound of rain beginning to fall.
