Jake saw a bed in the middle of the room with a sleeping, or what seemed to be sleeping, Dirk. Jake ran to his side, tears filled his eyes. Jake shouted in amazement, "OH MY GOD! DIRK!" Riften walked up beside Jake and put a hand on his shoulder. Jake looked up at Riften and asked, "What happened?" Riften felt guilt flood his system. Riften began to explain with guilt in his voice, "I saw a group of vamps in an ally. I went to check it out and saw that they had a teen aged boy cornered; 3 against 1. They were about to charge when I felt that I had to save this kid; like he was somehow important. I flew in and punched one in the face. He fell back and onto the ground. Another charged me and I flew and kicked him in the face. One charged right past me. I turned to stop him, but he already bit the kid. I pulled him off the kid and punched him in the gut. The group of vamps flew away. I turned to see if the kid was alright, but he passed out. I took him to my house and tried to get the venom out, but I was already too late. I'm sorry, Jake..." Riften looked at Jake, and to his surprise, Jake was smiling. Jake said, "At least I know he's in good hands." Riften was startled by this. Shouldn't Jake hate him for not trying harder? It didn't make any sense to the half-vamp. Jake stood and asked, "Has he woken up? Or is he..." Riften said, "He's not dead, but he's not alive either. And no, he hasn't woken up. He should have by now if the venom took affect." Jake looked at Riften dead in the eyes and said with a smile, "Well, thank you, Riften mate. You really don't know how much this means to me that you saved my old chum from the cluches of those monsters. I am ever greatful." Jake bowed. Riften giggled a bit and said, "You don't have to be so formal, govner. Pfft!" Riften broke out into a full on laughing fit. Jake crossed his arms and pretended to pout. Jake's pouty face only made Riften laugh more. After Riften's little laughing fit, Jake asked, "So, when do you think Dirk will wake up?" Riften frowned his brow and said, "I don't really know. It varies for everyone. It might take him a week. A month. Maybe even a year. I'm not sure. Sorry I'm not much of a help, Jake." Jake shook his head and said, "No! No! It's quite alright! You've been a great help to me. Really, Riften. Thank you." Jake smiled, but tears began to well in his eyes. Riften suddenly pulled Jake into a hug. At first, Jake was frozen but soon returned the hug. Riften whispered, "You know, you remind me of myself. I don't want you to be lonely, Jake. I'll do anything for you. Just ask." Jake sobbed a bit and said, "Thank you, Riften." They stayed in their embrace for a while until Riften pulled back. Riften said in a much more cheery voice, "So~! What do you wanna do?" Jake said, "We could go back to my house and play on my play station." Riften said, "Cool~! Let's do that~!" Riften excitedly grabbed Jake's hand and teleported outside and flew to Jake's house. Along the way, Riften asked, "Hey, Jake?" Jake said, "Yes?" Riften asked, "What's a 'play station'?" Jake giggled and said, "I'll show you when we get to my house." When they finally arrived at Jake's house, Jake opened the front door and they walked in the house. Jake lead Riften to the living room and said, "Sit on the couch. I'll get the play station started." Riften sat down on the couch just as Jake had instructed. Jake was setting up the play station when he asked, "Hey, Riften, what do you want to play?" Riften replied, "Whatever you want to play~. Plus, I don't really know any games." Jake nodded in agreement and said, "Alright! How about I pick a couple of games and you could pick which ever looks interesting to you?" Riften nodded and said, "Yeah~! That sounds like a great idea~!" Jake looked through his games and picked two that he really liked. Jake turned to Riften and held the two games in each hand. Jake said, "Alright~! I've got Diablo 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Which do you think looks cool?" Riften put his hand on his chin like he was in serious thought. Riften said, "Hhmmm... What's Call of Duty about?" Jake said, "It depends on which game mode you play. There's the campaign that's about this guy you play as and he's got this pass code or something in his brain when he was brain washed and now he's on this mission and he ends up dying so you play as his son and his friend, Woods. Then there's zombies--" Riften cut Jake off by shouting excitedly, "DID YOU SAY ZOMBIES?!" Jake nodded and said, "Yeah... It's my favorite game mode. You try to survive hordes of zombies that try to kill you and your team. You're basically a group of survivors. My favorite map is Transit. It's where you go around riding on a bus and it'll stop at places so you can get guns and stuff." Riften shouted, "That sounds AWESOME!! Let's play that!" Jake put Diablo back and put COD in the play station. Jake grabbed the two wireless controllers and went to sit on the couch. He handed Riften a controller and held onto his own. Jake asked, "Do you need me to show you the controls?" Riften said, "Oh no! I could just scan your mind and get the information." Jake said, "Wha-?" but Riften was already at work on his mind. In a few seconds Riften said, "Alright~! I got it~! Now, let's play~!" Jake nodded and started up a game online. Of course, they were playing the map Transit. After about two hours of playing, Jake saw that it was getting dark out. Jake said, "Hey, Riften?" Riften said, "Yeah?" Jake said, "I'm gonna fix me something to eat. Need anything?" Riften said, "Oh! Get me some water please~!" Jake nodded and went into the Kitchen to fix a sandwich. Jake made his sandwich and got a glass of water. Jake walked back to the living room and set the water in front of Riften on the coffee table. Jake continued to eat his sandwich. Riften was playing the campaign on single player. He paused the game and drunk all the water in the glass in one huge gulp. Jake finished his sandwich and Riften set the glass on the table and made it disappear. Jake asked, "Hey, where did you send my cup?" Riften said, "I teleported it to your sink in the kitchen." Riften turned the game off with his powers and asked Jake, "Hey, you wanna go late night flying?" Jake thought for a moment. Jake said, "Sure. Why not?" Riften smiled and hugged Jake. Next thing Jake knew, they were outside. The cold air hit Jake like a brick. Jake shivered a little and Riften felt it. Riften said, "I'll make you warm~." Riften used his powers and casted a spell on Jake that made him feel warm. Jake stopped shivering and said, "Thanks, Riften~!" Jake smiled and Riften blushed a bit and smiled back. Riften said, "And away~ we go~!" Riften began to fly around and twirl and loop all over the sky. Jake laughed with joy as they flew. Riften said, "Oh! I want to show you something~!" Riften flew toward a hill. They landed and Riften pointed out to the horizon and said, "Jake~! Look~!" Jake turned and looked at the beautiful scenery. The stars in the sky and all the down town city lights; it was magical. Jake turned toward Riften and said, "Riften, it's beautiful." Riften muttered, "You're beautiful." Jake asked, "What?" Riften blushed darkly and said, "What? I don't know! I have no idea what you're talking about!" He laughed nervously. Jake said, "I wanted to ask what you said a min--" but was cut off when Riften said, "We should get you home! Yeah! It's getting pretty late and you know what happens when it's dark!" Riften laughed nervously again. Riften grabbed Jake's hand and teleported to the inside of Jake's house. Riften said, "Well, I guess I'll get going now." Jake said, "You could... sleep here if you wanted to." Riften asked, "Really?" Jake nodded. Riften said, "Thank--" but was interrupted by knocking at the front door. Jake thought it was his grandmother. She'd always forget things sometimes. But it was so late, why would she come back now? Jake whispered, "Riften, go hide in my room!" Riften nodded and flew fast up the stairs to Jake's room. Jake turned the handle and opened the door.
