"You like it?" I asked my final client of the night as I allowed her to see the finished product of her requested tattoo. I had finally gotten back into my craft and everything felt better. My head was in the right places so everything seemed to follow behind in my personal life.
I haven't talked to my dad since our falling out and I didn't plan on doing so anytime soon. For me, space was the best thing for us. I haven't heard anything from Sky and I was okay with that but I knew it was a matter of time before she would be on her bullshit.
The past two weeks have been busy with me putting in more hours at the shop. Blessen has been working on her makeup studio with Onyx nonstop while still working at Owned by Onyx. She's been stressing herself out but I promised her that everything will be worth it in the end and I am beyond proud of my baby. Blu has been doing great in school. Blessen and I talk to her teacher faithfully and remain updated on her behavior and grades and so far Blu has been doing amazing. Everything has been going seemingly well for my family.
"I love it!" She squealed as she looked through the small mirror at the back of her ear at the angel numbers 777. Before we started the tattoo she ran down the meaning of angel numbers to me and I became intrigued. I always want to know what the tattoo meant to the person before I placed it on their bodies' forever. Other artists probably didn't give a fuck but it meant something to me.
"I'm happy you do." I smiled as she handed me the mirror. I cleaned her tattoo once again and covered it up before receiving my payment and letting her out the front door before she thanked me once again.
"You done for the night?" Dani asked while sweeping the front entrance of the shop which was out of her job description. I have a hired cleaning crew who thoroughly cleans the entire shop throughout the week.
"Sis, you OCD or something? I told you that I pay people to do that."
"I know I just can't help it." She sighed before placing the broom to the side before propping down into one of the chairs that were placed in the waiting area.
"You okay?" I asked sitting beside her.
"Yes, I mean no. I mean I don't know." She sighed once again with frustration present in her face.
"You know you can talk to me. I'm here for you." Dani was truly like a sister to me. It's nothing I wouldn't do for her and I could tell that she needed to talk and I was here to listen.
"It's about Shai. He has a father/son dance coming up but I don't know what to tell him. I told his teacher about our situation and I offered to step in and she understood but I know he will feel funny. Every other kid will be there with their father but him. I know he wouldn't care but it's been unsettling with me. It's just not fair sometimes. He has a living and breathing father who doesn't give a single fuck about him and it hurts me to my core."
"Fuck him. Shai ain't missing out on shit and you know that. It's his loss if anything and yeah it's fucked up but it's life. I know the shit weighs on you that's why I make it my business to pick up on whatever you can't." I said as she nodded. "When is this dance?"
"Next month but I'll just go and h——-"
"I'll be more than happy to join Shai at the father/son dance. I'd be honored actually." I smiled as she looked up at me in awe.
"B, you know you don't have to. I got this."
"You don't have to have it all the time that's why I'm here. I'll take him. Don't even sweat it, sis. We gonna be fly as fuck too. I'll get the matching suits and I'll set us up an appointment with my barber just send me the date and details and I'll handle the rest."
