Hunter's eyes snapped open from his sleep and looked around the room. He looked at his phone and sighed with relief.
I feel like I just woke up from a long dream...
He groaned. "Ugh..."
As he reached to rub his pale blue eyes, he felt something wet near them.
"W-What?! Why am I crying?" He muttered. "Gee, must be a really bad dream."
He stumbled into the bathroom and started brushing his teeth.
Today is the day.
I will be finding out who I'll spend the rest of my life with.
When you turn 18, you must go to the shrine of destiny to be gifted the Goddess Vaella's sign.
It's a sign only you and your fated partner get.
After receiving, it could take one day or one year to find your partner. But once you meet, you won't ever break apart.
If you try breaking this bond, you would suffer immense pain. Our whole system is surrounded by that sign. You cannot get married to someone else without the sign, this is to prevent problems in the future.

"Harley... Stop hiding..." Hunter shouted, waiting in front of her house. I noticed an auburn-haired head sticking out of one of the poles and I nudged the person out of it.
"AH!" She shouted. "You always find me so quickly!"
Harley was Hunter's best childhood friend and only friend. She wore faded jeans, brown boots, and a black jacket. Her auburn wavy hair was let down, a butterfly pin on top of her head. She wore no makeup like she was trying not to draw attention to herself, but it didn't work. She was seriously pretty.
"I will always find you," Hunter protested.
"Anyway, today's the day!" She exclaimed with a smile as her auburn hair flowed in the calm wind. "Aren't you excited?"
"Not really..." Hunter grunted and looked away. "I already know who it's going to be."
She let out a light laugh. "After we get our signs, what do you plan to do? It's our last day of high school!"
"Probably get a business, you know I love my money," He answered, half-joking.
"Yeah yeah, you ramble about it all the time," Harley grumbled, rolling her eyes.
"How about you?" He asked. "A baker? An artist?"
"I haven't decided yet," She admitted with a sigh, stroking her butterfly pin. "I'm still processing the years before now, one second I entered high school and now I'm leaving."
She groaned. "This day seemed so far away but it went by in a few seconds."
"Are you planning to meet your biological parents?" He asked and she raised her eyebrows in shock.
"No," She simply replied. "They left me in front of a door for a reason. If they want to see me, they can find me themselves. Besides, I'm happy with my two dads!"
"Sorry for such a rude question," He mumbled.
Thwap! Something hit Hunter's head. They looked down and saw...
"A sandal?" Harley asked, blinking twice.
Hunter groaned as a woman with the same black hair and eyes walked to him. "Ouch! Mom! What are you doing?!?"
