FLASHBACK TO 14 YEARS AGO

"Harley!" Brayden called and Harley stepped out of the house. "This is your neighbor!"

Harley looked at her new neighbor with a smile. He was a boy no more the same age as her, with black midnight combed hair and dark blue eyes. A woman stood near him with the exact same features.

"Hi! I'm Harley!" Harley introduced herself with a grin. "You must be Hunter?"

"Hmph," He grumbled.

"Erm... Wanna play at the playground?" She asked.

"No," He answered. His mom then glared at him. "I mean yes."

"What do you want to play?" Harley asked once they reached the playground.

"I don't want to play with you," He answered.

Harley pursed her lips. "Why not?"

"Because I don't like you!" He shouted.

"Why?"

"Stop questioning it!" Hunter argued. "I don't want to play stupid games with you. And why do you look so different from others? It's so weird.'

Harley laughed, ignoring the insults. "It's unique!"

"Stop it," He said.

"We can play hide and seek! You find me!" She exclaimed.

"I don't want to find you," He said angrily.

"Count to 30!" She said and ran off somewhere.

Off she goes. Hunter thought angrily. I'm going back home.

"Have you seen Harley?!" Harley's dad, Brody asked as Hunter's mom opened the door.

"What are you talking about?" Hunter's mom asked, confused. "Hunter said you picked her up."

Hunter gasped.

"Hunter...?" His mom asked, her tone a little terrified.

"That..." He squeaked. "I-I left Harley in the playground while playing hide and seek..."

"HOW CAN YOU LEAVE SOMEONE ALONE LIKE THAT?!" His mom screamed.

"We need to find her NOW," Brayden said.

"You're coming with us, Hunter," Brody grunted.

"I..." Hunter was at a loss for words.

What had he done?

"HARLEY!" Brody shouted, looking around the playground.

"HARLEY! HIDE AND SEEK IS OVER!" Brayden yelled.

D-Did I lose her? Hunter thought as he looked around. Was this my fault? What happens if she gets kidnapped or worse...

Hunter then saw an auburn-haired pigtail sticking out near the rock climbing wall. He gasped.

"Harley!" Hunter shouted, as Harley was behind the climbing wall all along.

"You found me!" She cheered.

"What are you doing?!" He asked. "Are you crazy?!"

But Harley was still smiling.

"I knew you would come back!"

"You can't be serious," He replied. "You barely know me."

"So?"

"How can you put your trust in someone you barely know?!" He screamed. "Do you have any knowledge?! I thought-"

"I trust who I want to trust," She interrupted.

"You should be more aware next time,"

"But you haven't finished the game yet!" Harley exclaimed.

"What?" He asked, confused.

"What do you normally say when you find someone?"

"I found you," He answered, unenthusiastic.

"Let's play again!" She clapped.

"Harley!" Brayden and Brody shouted and rushed her in a hug.

FLASHBACK 4 YEARS AGO

"You look so grumpy," Harley noted once the first period ended.

"I'm always grumpy," Hunter answered.

"You need a girlfriend," She whispered with a wink.

"WHAT?!" He asked, appalled.

"Who do you like in our class? Come on, tell me~" She snickered.

"No one!" He blushed a little.

"Who is attractive to you?

He blinked. "I said no one."

"Liar," She said in a sing-song voice and was about to walk away when Hunter grabbed her.

"Don't walk too fast! You might get lost," He scolded.

"OW, MY HAND!" She shouted, and slapped his hand away from hers. "Why are you so afraid? I'm not going to vanish in thin air."

That's what I fear ever since that playground incident...

"Just stick close, and don't cause me any inconvenience." He muttered.

She rolled her eyes and slowly walked to her class.
