"It's better if you don't talk to her, she has a stalker reputation, she becomes obsessed with anyone that talks to her" A classmate whispered to another
I continued to try and graph the function onto my calculator.
"Stay quiet, the teacher will hear you"
Curse the dumbass who told everyone I would stalk the hell out of them.
"That's all for today's class, have a good rest of the day" Mr. Taylor announced. The bell rang at the end of Algebra 2. I packed all my belongings into my backpack, almost forgetting my calculator.
"Ms. Desrosiers, I think you forgot something," said Mr.Taylor giving me my calculator
"Thank you" I replied as I took my calculator from his hand.
"Your grades are going down, I'm worried" He spoke
"I'll do my best to turn in more of my missing work Mr.Taylor" I mumbled embarrassed
"You know my offer of changing your seat away from the projector stands right?" Mr. Taylor asked
"I know, but I don't want to bother my classmates, they seem happy with their new seats" I answered honestly
"Your health should be your priority Ms. Desrosiers" He answered worriedly
"It is, with my sunglasses I don't have a problem" I smiled weakly as I lifted my sunglasses jokingly
Mr. Taylor let out a sigh of defeat.
"I just don't want my classmates to hate me, they barely make an effort to talk to me" I mumbled
"5th period is about to start, you may go" He smiled
I nodded and took my backpack lifting my hoodie so it wouldn't be a bother. I rushed through the halls getting in between tall students who didn't seem to notice my presence. I saw kids skipping stairs to reach their destination. I tried to skip a stair or two but could barely stretch my legs to do so.
"Hey you!" someone called
I ignored it and kept on walking, probably meant for someone else. I was tapped on my shoulder. I turned around, a young girl (probably a freshman) her hair was black and way with orange dye, black eyes, and white skin, unfortunately, taller than me.
"Yeah?" I asked
"You're Aster Desrosiers right?" She asked
I nodded
"I want to hire your services," She said with determination in her eyes
"Um... you got the wrong girl..." I muttered and began to walk away
Shit... if someone heard her I would be in great trouble. Students can't be doing risky jobs. Most of the jobs students in my school have are normal fast food or retail jobs, and the jobs are provided by the school.
"I'll tell an administrator," She said raising her voice
I stopped walking and bit my lip. I squeezed my backpack strap and walked back to her.
"Meet me in the school's playground after all our classes are done," I said
"Okay I will" She nodded
As time passed I couldn't think of anything but what type of job she wanted me to do. I almost forgot to say what I work as, I'm a part-time private detective, or how my classmates call me a "stalker" to earn money for college, not proud of it of course but it's a good business. I mostly stalk enemies of small gangs and such. It's dangerous but my parents work in something sketchy if that's the right word. My parents don't know about my job but they wouldn't care, after all their top priority is my safety. Unfortunately for my umm "victims", I'm a really good stalker, I can infiltrate places creating false documents and such, changing appearance and knowing when and what my victim does, likes, and prefers. Since I'm a small girl (decently adorable) I'm a good deceiver, because of this I'm a good stalker. Also, I'm very observant, perfect since I can read body language and reactions. Finally, the unfortunate time came and school was over. I wrapped up and headed away to the playground. She was already there sitting down on a swing. I let out a sigh, usually, students aren't good clients, they can't pay what I ask for and they just ask for small stuff like what their crushes like which they can figure out by asking. I sat down on the swing next to her.
"What information do you need? A crush's liking? If your boyfriend is cheating you name it I do it" I asked as I took my notepad and pen
"Nothing like that" She spoke looking down at the wood shreds
"Tell me what you need, I'll do it," I said
"I want you to stalk my ex" She finally spoke and looked at me
I dropped my pen. Really? an ex? God move on! I kneeled and got my pen.
"Sure, I need a photo and his name," I said as I sat back down
"His name is William Winters" She spoke and took out her phone to show me her ex
I wrote down his name, hoping I could find him in one of the freshie classes. I looked down at the photo of the girl hugging her ex's arm tightly. The boy looked around 14 to 15, with black skin color, curly hair, and light brown eyes, taller than her.
"Did you break up with him recently? I don't just offer to stalk services I guess you could call it" I chuckled "I'm also a very good listener"
"No, we broke up 3 years ago, in 7th grade" She replied with a serious tone
I looked at her and blinked continuously. I was not expecting that reponse.3 years ago... damn what did this dude do to this girl for her to still be hooked on him?
"3 years ago?! I'm sorry to involve myself in this but shouldn't you move on?" I asked
"It's none of your business, I'll be paying you for you to do your job" She glared
"Okay then, I'm a school monitor so I'll take the chance to visit as many freshman classes as I can, what information specifically do you want to know?" I asked
"If he has a new girlfriend, his new friends if they're female or male and if he still likes me as much as I do him" She explained
"Alright, gotcha, I'll be able to gather information in about 10 days, and that would be around 500 dollars," I wrote down on my notepad.
"Why so much?" She asked
"Ay, it's not so much, I'm invading someone's privacy, it's a compensation for the little dignity left in me" I pointed at her with my pen
"Also he's not in this school," She said
"What?! Why didn't you tell me?!" I asked
"Sorry," She said
"What school is he in?" I asked
"An all-boys boarding school, to St. Martins" She muttered
"You've got to be kidding me" I mumbled
An all-boys boarding school?!
"I'm not doing it sorry," I said as I stood up and was ready to break the paper off my notepad
"I'll pay you 35,410 dollars for your work, my dad is the principal of the school and if you transfer there all your work from here will transfer there" She spoke "My friends mother is the principal here, I'll tell her to begin the transferring and when you come back you'll keep everything"
I stood there and thought.35,410 dollars? was she serious? With that money, half of my career would be secure... with the money I have saved up and the one my parents have for my college tuition my career is more than secured... I turned around to face her.
"I'll do it" I agreed determined to win that money
She smiled
"I'll hand over the money tomorrow and we can start with everything you need" She smiled
"I'll need more than 10 days to find everything you need," I said
"Okay fine with me as long as you keep me updated, does 30 days work?" She asked
"It does thank you" I nodded "By the way what's your name? I need to know exactly who my clients are"
"Julie River," said Julie
I wrote it on my notepad.
"Well Aster Desrosiers, your job is to stalk my ex" Julie smiled
