After blinking when my eyes reopen I squint adjusting to the change in lighting. It takes a moment for me to get used to the brighter fluorescent lights in the white ceiling above me. I look down at my body and follow the path of the wires connecting to my skin. I'm hooked up to a few machines in a hospital room.
A shattering sound of glass breaking causes me to jerk my head to the doorway. Keigo stands eyes wide and mouth agape. Before I can speak he's already at my bedside holding me in a tight hug, discarding the broken mug by the entrance.
"Kid, you can't do that. You were out for a week and a half," Keigo utters in a quiet, weak voice. He pulls away from me, hands still resting on my shoulders. "You're my only family."
My eyes sting a bit but I push it away. I sigh thinking of the hidden relatives somewhere unknown. I glanced back up at Keigo's face, "I'm sorry I scared you."
Keigo chuckles and I feel the hair on top of my head ruffle a bit. "Hell yeah. I can't have a heart attack like that when I'm this young and handsome," He scoffs playfully and a smile stretches on my lips.
I roll my eyes and push him away, "Keep dreaming birdbrain. You can't even land yourself a girlfriend."
Once the shock of me waking up dispersed from Keigo's system I began to tell him what I saw. The Nest and Declan. Everything I learned about my quirk. The few relatives we have out there are just hiding waiting for us to find them. When I was explaining the possible quirks I could gain the door swung open slamming into the wall with a booming thud.
I lazily turn my head, my eyes meeting with fiery red ones. The boy is panting heavily as if he just ran a marathon or two. Katsuki's eyes are wide and he walks into the room with caution.
"What? Did you miss me that much?" I question teasingly and the blonde shakes from his haze.
Katsuki opens his mouth to speak but no words fall out. He just stares at me or more through me. I smile genuinely at him before turning my attention over to Keigo and rubbing my arm, "Ugh, could you give us a minute," I pause knowing Katsuki will probably scream his head off at me for longer than that, "Or like ten."
Keigo stretches as he stands from the chair he had pulled next to my bed. He ruffles my hair with his hand this time giving a faint smile, "Yeah I'm gonna go grab us dinner."
When the door softly closes behind Keigo I glance back at the blonde. He stands awkwardly far from my bed. Katsuki's eyes are trained on me and I squirm as they scan over my whole body. I expected him to have an outburst the second we were alone, but this is much more unsettling. When his eyes meet back with mine for no longer than a split second I see the anger they hold.
I swallow hard, opening my mouth to speak. "No," He firmly cuts me off, stomping closer to me with a finger harshly pointed at me. His voice rising with each step he takes closer, "You told me you were right behind me. We were going to get out of there together!"
"I wanted to make sure you would be okay," I mutter out quietly with a ghost of a smile.
Katsuki's glare holds bubbling rage directed solely at me but never meeting mine as his eyes bounce around my features. His jaw twitches as it clenches roughly, "I could have gotten you out of there! You didn't let me help you!"
I scoff as his anger begins to rub off on me, "And what? I let you carry me away only to watch All For One force us both back. If I had let you it wouldn't just be me forced back but you too! I was protecting you!"
"I didn't need your protection! Especially if it means watching you die," He shouts out his eyes jumping across the features on my face.
I want to yell right back at him, but staring closer I watch his eyes. They don't rest for a second analyzing every part of my face. He's searching for something and I'm unsure exactly what that is.
