Leilas Thoughts
___________Overwhelmed.
That was the only feeling Leila could resonate with from the moment she got off the plane in Incheon Airport. No, that was what she felt the moment she boarded a first class flight. It was like a whole 'nother world in there. It was hard to believe economy class was even on the same plane. The stewardess kept coming around asking her if she wanted champagne. She declined everytime because she had Mia but truth be told, she would've loved to take the entire bottle out of the woman's hand. Her anxiety was at an all time high for various reason.
One:
Boarding a fifteen hour flight with a one year old who had lungs like Mariah Carey. Two:
Being in another country pretty much alone.Three:
Him. Seeing him again. Being that close to someone who had built her up and broke her down in a matter of forty-eight hours. She knew this trip was solely about Mia but, she wondered how them meeting again would be. They were still in a very awkward place and she wasn't sure either one of them knew what it was. The moment he asked her who she was with while she was out, she knew things could get messy again. Leila had to draw the line immediately and knock him back to his side. He was Mia's father and nothing more.
So many people were hustling and bustling around her and Mia's stroller. Leila became glued to the spot at the gate exit, not knowing what way she had to go, or how to even ask someone for directions because she didn't speak the language.
Before leaving New York, Namjoon told her all she had to do was head to baggage claim and there, she would find her driver. How the hell was she going to find the driver if she couldn't even find baggage claim?
Leila placed her hand over her forehead in exasperation and looked around at all the signs. After a long flight, the last thing she needed was to break down in the middle of an overly extravagant airport, where people were going to look at her like she had lost her damn mind.
She looked over the strollers visor at Mia who was quietly seated. Her luck was about to run out, she could feel it. Mia had been too wonderful during the flight and it was a matter of minutes before she started wailing like a banshee.
Leila took a deep breath and centered herself. She just needed to calm down and read the signs. If she followed those she would be fine. Truthfully, she even got lost at airports in the U.S so this wasn't going be a walk in the park, but she needed to get moving. Mia would have to eat soon.
She started her trek down to baggage claim, following the signs as best she could. Three wrong turns and twenty minutes later, she finally found the large conveyor belt filled with luggage.
"Thank god." She pushed forward towards an open spot and waited for their luggage to come by. After three go arounds with no sign of her bags she started to get worried. As luck would have it, Mia started to whine in her stroller. Her little arms came out taking a hold of the visor and trying to pull it down.
"Leila and Mia?" She turned to the sound of a man's voice. He wore a black suit and tie and was holding up a sign with her and Mia's name on it. Beside him was her suit case and Mia's small pink one.
The driver. Thank heavens.
Leila took a breath of relief and nodded. "Yes."
"Annyeong-haseyo. I am your driver, Do-Yun." He bowed to her with a smile. She could tell from his accent that their conversations were going to be extremely limited, but she was so thankful to him she'd be willing to learn Korean in a day just to tell him that. "I will take you to the hotel."
