One Month Later
Life after Namjoon's announcement was hard to describe. He would be lying if he said that he still felt whole. He'd wake up in the morning and enjoy time with Mia while Leila was at the shop, maybe work on a song or two, and speak to the members if one of them wasn't busy.
It felt like the lifestyle of a retired musician, and he wasn't sure if he had been ready for it. There were a lot of sleepless nights wondering if he'd ever feel as accomplished again, but then all he had to do was look over at Leila sleeping soundly beside him to remember why he had done it, to begin with.
She hated that he left the group just like Jungkook said she would. Leila begged him to reconsider. She even tried to compromise with him. That maybe he could divide his time between both countries. She said she could manage Mia alone until he returned, but he refused. He wasn't going to be a part-time parent anymore. You made these types of sacrifices for the well-being of your children and he just had to deal with that.
The internet was, as always, unforgiving. There were mixed feelings about his departure. Some said good riddance after the lies he told. Others blamed Leila. Most just wanted him to come back.
Mia's hugs and kisses made up for any doubts he may have had.
Leila, on the other hand, hated the decision he made more and more each day. Nights, when he thought she was asleep, she was up feeling him toss and turn beside her. The light in his eyes had dimmed, even though it was replaced with a different one for them, it wasn't the same. The only time she saw even an inkling of the old Namjoon was when he was excitedly showing her a song that he'd been writing.
He was trying so hard; she knew that. He'd gotten a place in New York and let his sister stay at the one back in Korea while he tried to get it sold. Namjoon would get up before Leila, most likely because he hadn't slept at all, and make her coffee before she left for work. He'd even learned how to make eggs just to feed Mia in the morning. Other than that, the man was a lost cause in the kitchen.
Not once would he complain. He would love and spoil them both. Mia would be bathed and fed by the time Leila got in from work. She would get foot rubs and back massages galore. The sex was even more incredible than before. It was like all the energy he put into work he was now putting into her. She appreciated all his efforts, but Namjoon wasn't a house husband and he would go crazy if she didn't do something soon.
She had gotten to the point where she believed that maybe returning to South Korea as a family was the best option because Namjoon would never return home without Mia. The incident was still fresh and petrified Leila, but maybe they could amp up the security detail. It made her return to New York redundant in the first place, but the situation had taken a different turn now. She wanted everyone to be happy together, not pretending half the time.

Leila watched Namjoon floss in the mirror. They'd gotten pretty comfortable. Comfortable enough where he would let her see all the hideous ways his face contorted while he flossed.
"You talked to the guys today?" She asked, wrapping her floss around her fingers.
Namjoon nodded while he went in on his molars. "Jungkook gets his cast removed this week." He said once he was done. "He'll be able to perform next week with a healed hand."
He didn't say much after, and Leila knew that it was based on the fact that it was their first performance without him. Namjoon smacked her butt softly and kissed the side of her head before exiting the bathroom.
She hated this. Something had to give.
Leila returned to the room once she was done to find him standing on the other side of the bed, texting on his phone.
