Backpack, wallet, textbook, whiteboard. Ok, I'm good to go.
I open the door, immediately closing it behind me. A huge gust of abnormally cold air hits me as I step outside. It was a pretty chilly day for Florida. It didn't really bother me though, it was just different. I walk down the driveway to my car, being perfectly on time.

Not long after I made it to school, parking my car and walking inside. I make my way to my locker, putting away everything except for my whiteboard, ASL textbook, and laptop. I take my things and make my way to class, dodging other students on the way.

"Perfect timing, Zak!" Miss. Steph greets me with a smile. I smile back, heading to the nearest available seat which was located at the front of the room. Immediately making myself comfortable in my spot. Minutes later the bell rang. I look around for Bad, but seeing no sign of him. A small frown spreads across my face as I turn back towards the front, keeping an eye on the door just in case. He's probably just late.

"Ok everyone! We are going to be starting a whole new unit today!" Miss. Steph explains excitedly, earning slight low groans from the rest of the class. "Woah, don't get to excited." She jokes sarcastically. "This is going to be exciting!" She adds. "You guys will be making your own mini games!" She reveals, making jazz hands at what she just wrote on the board. 'Mini Game Coding'.

I like Miss. Steph. She's really friendly and enthusiastic. She's one of those cool, layed back teachers, but also the kind that is strict only if you get on her bad side. I, of course am not on her bad side. We get along really well, always having little friendly conversations. Well- not anymore.

I only half listen as she explains our next assignment. The other half of my attention was stuck on the thought of Bad. I already kind of knew how to do this assignment, so it didn't really matter if I listened or not. As I was zoned out, stuck in my thoughts, I heard the door open. "Sorry I was late, I forgot to set my alarm." Bad apologizes, quickly taking the empty spot beside me. I start to get excited, pulling out my whiteboard to greet him, but he stops me.

I look up, making eye contact. I could see an excited glint in his eyes that told me he was clearly happy about something. "Good morning Zak how did you sleep?" He signs. My eyes immediately widen with excitement. I started jumping slightly in my seat, overwhelmed with excitement as I try to stay still enough to respond. "You learnt more!" I observe. "I did!" He confirms, chuckling at my reaction.

"Uh- that's why I was late." Bad explains breaking the second of silence that broke out between us. "I stayed up almost all night researching and trying to remember ASL so I can understand you." He confesses, rubbing the back of his neck anxiously. My smile grows even bigger then before. He stayed up learning ASL for me. Deducting sleep, for me.

I didn't even know how to respond, that was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me- "What are you going to do for the assignment?" Bad's voice breaks me from my thoughts, making me turn my gaze towards him instead of the from of the class. "Idk probably a little two dimensional game" I explain. I have never not known what I wanted to do for assignments, my mind has been busy thinking about other things, or people in that case.
I don't know why I can't get my mind off of Bad. I guess he's just such a good friend.

"Cool, cool. I was thinking of making one of those trashy mobile games, I think it'd be funny." Bad tells me with a little giggle, earning a smile from me. "That would be something" I sign, sniffling a laugh.

We spent the rest of class working on our games, having small interactions every now and again. I still can't get the whole "Bad learning a whole language for me" thing out of my head. I always get lost in thought thinking about it, constantly messing up some coding aspects because of it.
