But sadly, all good things must come to an end-
"Do you really have to go?-" I complain for the millionth time, making it come out as more of a whine.
"Yes, I'm sorry. School starts in a week." Ant says looking back at me with a frown. He was folding his clothes out on my bed before packing them up in his suitcase."I'll come back next summer, I promise," He says genuinely, giving me the biggest hug. "Swear?" I mumble into the hug. "Shit- piss- fu-"He starts. "Not like that!" I yell, breaking away from the hug to push him playfully. "Yes, I swear." He sighs with a smile. It felt like seconds before we had to go.
"Travel safe!" My dad says, giving Ant a quick hug. "Come back whenever!" My father smiles, waving us out as we make our way to Zak's car. He's honestly like our driver now, since I can't drive or have a car he's always driving me everywhere. It works out though since we are technically always together.
As I enter the passengers seat I look over to see Zak's usual welcoming smile, but I could tell there was something up. I let it be though, giving him a small smile as Ant got in the backseat. "Ok, let's go!" Ant exclaims desperately, not even bothering to put his seatbelt on. If I were guess why he so eager to leave since our next stop is Red's house.
I couldn't help but feel lonely, yet really happy for them as we got to Red's house. Ant immediately clinging onto him. I was sad he had to go what felt like so soon, even though it has been a whole two months. Sometimes I wish time would just stop at the good moments in life, so we can just enjoy them a bit longer.
"I just love being the fifth wheel." I hear Finn say sarcastically as he walks up to us. "Wha- more like we're just standing here while these two make out-" I shoot back with a nervous laugh as Finn takes a stance in between of me and Zak. "He's leaving today, shut it." Red glares, holding Ant tight.
I think about meeting my soulmate everyday. Daydreaming about how and if it's is actually going to happen. My seventh birthday was last year, so I'm actually eighteen. But because of me moving from another state I had to start one year below where I actually am. I didn't mind though since I got to take coding classes. We didn't have that in my old school.
I just got way off topic there-
The thing is that I have been able to find my soulmate for a year and a bit now. I just hope I can meet them soon.We made it to the airport sooner then any of us would like, but Ant's plane wasn't for another half an hour so we had some time to waste. Clay and George met up with us and we just walked around the airport for awhile, keeping Ant's bags in the car so he didn't have to carry them around. We all tried to savour the time we had together, with Ant since he's leaving, but also with the rest of us since we'll be back at school and busy in a few days.
I still couldn't believe it'll be our last year of high school. I only had a bit of an idea of what I wanted to do, but I was a bit worried. As much as school sucks, it gives me an excuse to see my friends. What will happen to our group when it all ends? There are many people who are still in touch with some of their high school friends, but I don't want it to end up with us just texting every now and again. It ends how it ends I guess.
"I'll come visit you next time." I reassure him as we get his bags from the car, only having ten minutes til his flight now. "I'll come as well." Red says giving him a kiss on the cheek. "I'll be looking forward to it." Ant says. "What's that supposed to mean?" Finn asks suspiciously. "Language, Finn! Not everything is dirty!" I language him with a laugh, knowing what he was intending. "Who says this wasn't dirty?" Red asks with a smirk. "You hate you, muffinheads-" I mumble, trying to hold back another laugh.
We kept this friendly but very weird banter going the entire way to the terminal.
"Plane 14 will start boarding now." A woman's voice announces through the intercom. We all look at Ant with sad expressions. "I'll see you again soon! I promise!" He reassures us.We all take turns giving Ant a goodbye hug, mine being extra long from not even wanting to let go. Red went last, giving him a special goodbye which in my opinion was pretty emotional. "I love you." He whispers. "Text me when you land." He says before giving Ant one last kiss. "Guys you're going to make me cry-" George interrupts, making everyone laugh. It was nice for a subtle mood change.
We all wave goodbye as Ant slowly makes his way to the front desk of the terminal. "I miss him already-" Red confesses with a sigh the second Ant disappears out of view. "It'll be ok, there's always next summer." Clay reassures him, giving him a pat on the back as we began to walk back.
"Video games at my house?" Finn asks the group, breaking the comfortable yet dismal silence. "You know it!" Clay yells in excitement. I look over at Zak who gave me a little nod followed by a smile, which I returned.
No doubt we'll miss him, but at least we can try and schedule something soon for us to go over there next time.★★★★★★★★★★
