I groan as I'm blinded by the sun seeping through my curtains, grabbing the nearest pillow and aggressively covering my face with it.
I spread my legs out straight, stretching and bracing myself for the day ahead.
Seconds later my phone alarm goes off, signalling it's time for me to get up and get ready for school. I hate waking up before my alarm. Yet, it is better than waking up to the alarm.A big yawn escapes my mouth as I sit up in bed. The sun hit me perfectly in my left eye from a crack in the curtains. I squint, looking through the crack to see white. Letting my eyes adjust I still see nothing but white after awhile. My eyes widen as I realize. Quickly getting out of bed, I run over to my window and aggressively draw back the curtains.
ITS SNOWING
A SNOW DAYWe barely get any snow here, so it's quite a big deal. I squeal in excitement, jumping out of bed to get dressed. I quickly slip on the first things I get my hands on, which is a black hoodie and red sweatpants.
My hand glides along the railing as I bolt down the stairs."Wow, you're actually up on time."
My mom observes as she watches me run down the stairs.
"Oh yeah, you don't have school today due to the snow. There was a blizzard last night, which is really weird we haven't got one of those in ye-"
I don't let her finish, I run out the door. A huge gust of cold, refreshing air hits my face. The sun shine brightly above, reflecting off of the snow to make it appear brighter than it really is. I squint as I look at the big hills of snow that were two feet at most.
It wasn't snowing anymore. Like a rainbow after a storm kind of situation.I get excited as all the possibilities of what I can do in the snow fill my head. One person in particular pops into my mind in the process. Bad.
I run inside to find my mom.
"Im going to Bad's"
I inform her.
"You're car is snowed in though-"
"I'll walk"
I sign as I rush towards the door, not grabbing a jacket of any sorts. I hear my mom's muffled yells in concern as I slam the door shut. A huge smile stayed plastered on my face the whole walk..・。.・゜✭𝙱𝚊𝚍'𝚜 𝙿𝙾𝚅✫・゜・。.
I jolt awake to loud ringing throughout the house. It stopped momentarily, letting me slowly fall back asleep.
I was violently woken up once again, but this time by a sudden huge weight on my chest. Air makes its way out of my lungs as my eyes whip open.
I open my eyes to see Zak's face inches away from mine with the biggest smile I have ever seen. His cheeks were a rosy pink, and he felt a little colder than expected.
"W-what are you doing here, Zak?"
I ask sleepily, giggling a bit under my breath at his excited expression. He quickly gets off of me and runs to my window. My eyes immediately squint shut as he pulls open the curtains. My room is on the second floor, so all I could see was the sky and top floor of my neighbour's house."What am I supposed to be looking at?"
I giggle, sitting up slowly. He runs over, grabbing my arm and pulling me up.
"Ok, ok I'm coming."
The smile didn't leave my face for a second as I made my way to the window. As annoying as this whole thing was I can't be mad at him, it's honestly impossible. His big innocent smile, his slightly pink cheeks, the way his eyes squint when he smiles, his little mannerisms he does when he gets excited. Everything about him is perfect. He is honestly the most perfect best friend.I glance out the window to see at least two feet of fluffy white snow. My eyes widen in surprise. The sun was shining brightly, it wasn't snowing anymore so it must have just been last night.
I look back over at Zak to see him already looking up at me. His big bright smile not leaving his face for even a second."Let's go"
He signs, jumping up and down.
"Outside?"
I ask, furrowing my eyebrows slightly.
He shakes his head frantically, pulling me out of my room. He hadn't let go of my arm since he dragged me out of bed. In a matter of seconds he pulled me downstairs and out the door. I stand on the porch, watching as Zak walks down the stairs and jumps into the largest snow hill in my front yard, clothed and everything."Oh my goodness! What are you doing!"
I yell at him. He looks over with his big smile and waves me over. I slowly walk down the walkway, feeling the cold pavement against my bare feet. He waves me a bit closer, I lean over to get closer. In a matter of seconds I feel hands around my forearms pulling me down onto the hill of snow. I hear laughter as I face plant into the snow right beside Zak."You suck!"
I complain with a giggle, wiping the now melted snow off of my face. He just grabs my hand, intertwining our fingers as he giggles.
We both burst out into a fit of laughter as we lay there in the snow, our backs freezing and our stomachs and chests warm from the sun. My eyes burned from the bright sun, and by back started to ache, but I didn't care. The only thing I was focused on was Zak, his warm hand intertwined with mine.★★★★★★★★★★
