"All personnel, the evacuation order has been confirmed. Proceed to your designated vehicles for evacuation," the intercom rang. I made my way up to the landing pad along with Agent Colleson as we awaited Fury's arrival.

"Do you really need those sunglasses?" I teased.

"What? I think they look great!" Colleson said unapologetically. We watched as the helicopter finished it's landing. Maria Hill being the first to exit and then Fury.

"How bad is it?" Fury asked as he approached us.

"That's the problem sir," Colleson said as he took the glasses off, I rolled my eyes as I stood next to him, "we don't know."

The four of us made our way over to the elevator as we descended into the basement.

"Dr. Selvig read an energy surge from the Tesseract four hours ago," I said as we reached the level.

"NASA didn't authorize Selvig to go to the test phase," Fury quickly added.

"He wasn't testing it," Colleson began, "he wasn't even in the room."

"Spontaneous event," I said.

"It just turned itself on?" Maria asked skeptically. I was about to argue with her tone but Fury spoke.

"Where are the energy levels now?" he asked.

"Climbing, when Selvig couldn't shut it down we ordered evac," Colleson pointed out.

"How long till we clear out?" Fury asked.

"Campus should be cleared in the next half-hour," Colleson said.

"Do better," Fury simply said as Colleson headed back to handle evac. We made our way to the stairs before Maria began to complain. She always thought her and I were competing but honestly there was nothing to pose a real challenge.

"Sir, evacuation may be futile," she began.

"Should we tell them to go back to sleep?" I scoffed.

"If we can't control the Tesseract's energy," she tried to continue arguing, "there may not be a minimum safe distance."

"I need you to make sure Phase 2 prototypes are shipped out," Furry said as he came up with a task for her.

"Sir, is that really a priority right now?" She asked, realizing what he was doing.

"Until such time as the world ends we will act as though it intends to spin on," Fury said, turning back to face her, "Clear out the tech below. Every piece of Phase 2 on a truck and gone."

"Yes sir," Maria said as accepted her orders, "with me," she said, instructing two guards. I smirked at her as she walked past me.

I followed Fury into the lab seeing all the commotion of everyone trying to understand what was going on.

"Talk to me Doctor," Fury shouted as he entered the room.

"Director," Selvig answered as he spotted Fury.

"Is there anything we know for certain?" Fury asked, wanting to get right to the point.

"The Tesseract is misbehaving," Selvig replied.

"Hey!" I shouted when I spotted some kid trying to poke it with a stick. He quickly gasped as it sent a shock of electricity to his hand.

"Is that supposed to be funny?" Fury said, answering Selvig.

"No, not funny at all," he tried to correct, "The Tesseract is not only active, she's... behaving."

"I assume you pulled the plug?" Fury said, raising an eyebrow.

"She's an energy source," Selvig pointed out, "We turn off the power, she turns it back on. If she reaches peak level..."

"We've prepared for this Doctor," Fury interrupted, "harnessing power from space."

"But we don't have the harness," Selvig answered, "my calculations are far from complete. And she's throwing off interferences, radiation. Nothing harmful, low levels of gamma radiation."

"That can be harmful," I added. I watched as the Tesseract flickered, it had gotten me worried since it had stopped calling for me a day ago. I wasn't sure what else it had gotten in contact with.

"Where's Agent Barton?"

"The Hawk?" Selvig scoffed, "Up in his nest as usual."

"Agent Barton, report," I voiced over the radio. I went to look at the monitor as we waited for Clint to come over. Fury then signaled for Barton and I to follow him.

"I gave you two this detail so you could keep a close eye on things," Fury began.

"Well I see better from afar," he pointed out.

"Have you seen anything that might set this thing off?" Fury asked, slightly annoyed.

"No one's come or gone," he shrugged his shoulders, "and Selvig is clean. No contacts, no IMs."

"If there's any tampering sir, it's not at this end," I say.

" 'At this end?'" Fury asks.

"Yeah the Cube is a doorway to the other end of space right?" I say as we reach the Tesseract, "Doors open from both sides."

Just as I finished my sentence the floor began to shake. The Tesseract let out a wave of blue as the energy around it began to crackle. There was rumbling and everyone stepped back as the Tesseract continued to spew out energy. It began to gather energy in the chamber and swirl till it directed itself to the pad. A giant blue orb formed as a portal opened. You could see stars through the portal but they were not earth's stars. Then a wave of blue energy spread through the room. I took the chance to summon Barnes' mask over my face as I shielded myself from the surge of energy. I looked up at the ceiling as the remaining energy gathered there. Then my gaze was drawn back to the pad.

My heart stopped completely as I spotted him knelt down. The men started to slowly approach him, weapons drawn. He was covered in the Tesseract's energy as it sizzled off of him. He slowly began to rise from his position, head still down but there was no denying it was him. Then his gaze carefully shifted up revealing that mischievous smile. As soon as I saw those icy eyes I set up my mental block, he can't know it's me. I saw his eyes survey the room before they landed on me.

"Ravishing," I heard.

"Ravishing," I heard
