"But Dad... Jimmy got a laptop when he was 15. I'm 16 now, a year older than he was and why am I not allowed to buy a Mac?" I protested with all my might.
"Jimmy was a lot more behaved than you were at your age, didn't answer back and certainly did not ask for anything unnecessary ." My dad nicely snapped. I started to retort back when he cut me off. "No means no, Am. You're not getting that laptop as your birthday gift and that's final. End of discussion. Stop pouting and get your backpack...you don't want to be late for your new school on the first day,do you?"
I mumbled something incoherent even to me as I made my way up to my bedroom to grab my bag. Jimmy,my older brother of 20 years smirked at me as I sulked. " Kid, better put on your smiling face or you won't be able to make new friends, not like you actually would even if you wear your brightest smile." He evilly laughed. I growled at him and then reminded myself now was not the time.
"Deep breaths, Am,deep breaths. You do NOT harm a person who is unarmed." I muttered under my breath to calm down.
Let me start off by making introductions. I'm Amity Hayes and these crazy people you met up are just a part of my family. Wait until you meet my even crazier mother, who fortunately has gone to her brother's house for 2 weeks. Phew. I believe in the quote "Keep your head up, keep your heart strong." As Ben Howard puts it. I just shifted schools which means a brand new start yay no yay. Yay because I get to leave my old school, which as a school is pretty alright but the people studying in that institution? Just thinking about them makes me want to puke. No yay because I get to meet new people and as my dear brother Jimmy already hinted it, I'm not really a people magnet. I had close to no friends in my earlier school and was classified as a total dork( which is NOT true because I self isolated myself. Who wants communicate with a bunch of total fake bitches? Eh,I'll pass.)
So here I am, sitting in my Dad's car, arms crossed and scowling at the one and only Welton High. " Bye sweets, have a good day at school. Best of luck, alright?" My dad insisted on dropping me when I simply could have cycled or even walked. But I smiled nonetheless and gave him a peck on the cheek. " See you, Dad. Love you!" I said as I shut the car door.
I sighed as he drove off and made a low whiny sound. Here we go.
