{ POV : Shane }

It was just another day in Pelican Town. I got up, brushed my teeth and hair, etc. I had to go to work at Joja Mart. What is Joja Mart you might be asking? Joja Mart is just a worse version of Pierre's General Store, ran by Joja Corporation. All they even care about is money. 

The employees are basically just slaves. So, I guess I'm a slave. But, there is something kinda good happening today. Two new farmers are moving into [farm name] Farm. The old man who was the farmer there departed..10..20.. I don't know how many years ago. I don't keep count.. 

One of the farmers is his grandchild apparently. Anyways, after completing my routine, I slipped on my semi-ripped Joja Mart sweatshirt. Joja's slogans 'Life's Better With Joja.' Let me tell you, they're wrong. It doesn't mean shit.

I walked out of my room, my aunt Marnie was behind her table, ready for customers. I'm renting my room from Marnie at a really good price. It's small but I can't complain. If I could reset my life maybe I'd start a chicken farm. Only free-range eggs of course. I forgot to mention, Marnie owns a farm and sells farm goods.

Animals, milk, hay, etc. We have cows, chickens, and more. I love Charlie, he's my favorite chicken. I'm dreading the day where Marnie decides to sell him. 

"Hey." I simply said to Marnie.

"Hey, Shane! I hope you do well today! Try not to drink too much beer.

"Eh.."

Then, Jas walked out of her room. Jas is my goddaughter. I was great friends with her parents, until they got in a car wreck. After they passed, I quickly gained custody over Jas. She feels like my real daughter.

"Hi Uncle Shane."

"Hey, Jas."

She usually calls me Uncle Shane, not Dad or anything. I'm not prepared for that anyway.

"Um.. uncle.. can you do my hair?"

"Sure."

I knelt down behind Jas. I didn't mind that I would probably be late for work. Jas is my everything. She is what is keeping me alive. I took the brush from her hand, and started brushing through her purple hair.

I grabbed the green hair ties from her hand, and put her hair in two ponytails and topped it off with a bow on the top of her head. I got up, told both of them bye, and walked out the door.
