De-stressing

The rhythmic pitter patter over my head

In contrast to the constant typing,

Pull me towards the sight from my window.

The glass beads that hang from

The wires outside say a cheery hello.

The smell of freshly brewed coffee

Mixed with the damp air outside

Are synonymous with everything calm and joyful,

And give me a reason to crack a smile.

Looking back inside, I wonder

If with power comes responsibility,

And with work, comes immense stress.

The whole day spent staring at a screen

As if there are no people to address.

When all the work is done

And you search for a way to relax,

Why is the solution another screen?

Looking at the fakeness and laughing.

Try shifting your attention

To the world around you,

And you will never say no

To enjoy the rain and the trees.
