Teddy Lupin- Twist In Time

Hogwarts Train

Teddy's POV-

"Bye Ginny." I said, hugging her tightly, "I'll send you back a letter every time you write."

"You had better Edward Remus Lupin." Harry grinned, ruffling my, now dark purple, hair before hugging me just as tightly as Ginny had done.

"Bye James, Al." I said, breaking away from Harry and hugging the eight and five year old in order.

"Bye Ted." James said, looking really  angry, "Do you have to go?  It'll be too boring with out you."

"Yes James," Ginny explained for the tenth time this morning, "He's got to go."

"Bye Lils." I said, kissing the three year old's forehead.

"You better go Ted." Harry said, pointing to the clock, "The trains leaving in a few minutes, you'll want to get a good seat."

"Bye Harry." I said, hugging him once more before turning to go.  

I headed onto the train, Dora perched on my shoulder, and tried to find Nyx and Alfie.  I looked in every compartement until I found Alfie sitting on his own in one.

"Hey Alf." I grinned, sticking my head round the door before I walked in.  

"Oh hey Teddy." He said, looking up from the seat next to him.

"What's up Alf?" I asked him, sensing he was sad about something.

"My bird." he said weakly, "It looked ill when I brought it, but a second ago it burst into flames." I chuckled at the despair on his face.

"That's a phoenix mate." I told him, sitting down beside him and looking over his shoulder at the pile of ash on the seat, "They burst into flames when they get old, then get reborn from the ashes."

"Oh." Alfie replied, perking up a bit, "So Cookie'll get born again."  I couldn't help but snort with laughter,

"You called a phoenix Cookie." I laughed, "A more sensible name for a bird than bursts into flames every couple of months would be, like, Ignis or something like that."

"What does that even mean?" Alfie asked me, picking his phoenix chick up from the ashes.

"Its Latin for fire Alf." Someone said for me, a hint of teasing in their voice.

"Nyx." I grinned, recognising the girl in the doorway.  Her fiery red hair was bouncing around her shoulders and her green eyes sparkled mischievously.

"Teddy." She grinned back, stepping into the compartment and sliding the door shut behind her.  I stood up and hugged her tightly, happy to be seeing my friends again.

"How are you guys?" Nyx asked, hugging Alfie before she sat down facing us.

"Not b-" I started saying but a shrill whistle from the train cut me off.

"Wave guys." Alfie said jumping up and running to the window.  I followed and searched the crowd of parents and relatives for Ginny and Harry.  As the train started to move I caught sight of Ginny's bright red hair and waved as hard as I could to the whole family.

After we had rounded the bend all three of us sat down, either excited or nervous about the upcoming school term.  I cradled Dora in my lap and smoothed down her messy feathers.

"Were you waving to Harry Potter?" Nyx asked me suddenly, breaking the awkward silence.

"Hmm?" I looked up from the owl in my lap to see Nyx staring expectantly at me, "Oh yes.  He's my godfather.".
"Your godfather?" Alfie's brown eyes opened even wider than normal and he looked enviously at me.

"What about your parents?" Nyx, unknowingly of course, had brought a lump up in my throat, "I didn't see anyone who looks like you on the platform."

"My parents are dead." The words caught in my throat and my hair turned a sad, pale blue.

"Teddy!" Nyx shrieked, "Your hair!"

"I know." I mumbled, "I'm a Metamorphagus like my mum is well, was."

"I'm sorry Teddy." Alfie said, putting a hand on my shoulder, "We didn't know."

"Its fine guys, really." I assured them, "Everyone says it.  I don't mind anymore."

"What about you Nyx?" Alfie said, changing the subject so quickly it was a little scary, "What's your blood status?"

"Pure blood." Nyx replied, "My family is the Ottobournes, from France.  I'm the only one who isn't at Beauxbatons, they wouldn't accept me." She grinned naughtily and gave a sort of half a shrug.

" I'm Muggle- born." Alfie said, "My parents were well shocked when they found out."

"I'm half- blood." I finished for them, "My Dad was a werewolf."

"Really?"  Alfie gasped, not knowing whether to believe me or not.

"I know who your Dad is!" Nyx said suddenly, sitting up straight and staring at me, "He's Remus Lupin, isn't he?"

"Yeah." I agreed, glad they had taken the shock of my heritage as well as they did, "Here." I took the chocolate frog card out of my pocket and handed it to her, "That's them."  I stroked Dora carefully as Nyx and Alfie read through the card and looked at the picture on the front.

"You should get your robes on kids." I turned to see a young woman, I guessed she was a professor, standing in the doorway, "We'll  be at Hogwarts soon."

"Thanks," I said, taking my chocolate frog card back off Alfie.

"Firs' years over here!" I heard a loud, deep voice call as we stepped off the train.
"Firs' years please!"

"Hey Hagrid." I said, stepping up to this giant of a man and hugging him tightly.
"Hey Teddy." He grinned down at me, returning my hug.
"Firs' years!" He yelled once note before looking down at all of us, "Everyone get a boat, four in each."
I piled into a boat with Nyx, Alfie and some other blond girl called Izzi. 

"What house do you want to be in?"  Alfie asked me.

"Gryffindor, like my dad." I replied, ginning from ear to ear, "You?" I asked him.

"Dunno." Alfie shrugged, "Be happy with any I suppose."

" Gryffindor." Nyx said, "My mum and dad were in Beauxbatons so it wouldnt matter to them."

"What about you Izzi?" I asked the blonde haired girl, "What house do you want?"

"Ravenclaw." She replied, "Like my older sister."

"Cool." I nodded, trailing my hand in the cold water. 

When we reached the other side Hagrid knocked loudly on the large door.  It swung open and I got my first view of the inside of Hogwarts.

<><>. Author Message!!  I'm away but picking up WiFi where I can.  I had to leave at 5 this morning and am still in the car *yawn*.  I'll update when I'm in town or with WiFi, but apart from that I won't be able to publish.:'-(.<><>
