Teddy Lupin- Twist In Time

No Choice

Teddy's POV-

"Is she gonna be alright?" I pounced on Sirius as soon as he was back.

"She'll be fine." He said comfortingly, wrapping me in a hug, "They're keeping her in overnight but she's on the mend. Oh yeah-" he added excitedly as we pulled away, clearly bursting to tell us, "I'm cleared! They've seen Pettigrew so I'm free to go!"

"That's great." Nyx smiled weakly, hugging him awkwardly.

"Can we see her?" Alfie took the words straight from my mouth, his face drawn into a tight frown.

"Give it an hour or so." Molly said, collapsing onto the sofa, "She's still very weak."

"Who was it who-" I asked Kingsley as he walked in, taking a seat next to Molly.

"Bellatrix." He said stiffly, "She tortured her. Cruciautus Curse, Sectumsempra even just a knife. Tonks is lucky to be alive."

"Anyone else hurt?" Sirius asked, a muscle in his cheek twitching slightly out of nerves.

"No." Kingsley assured him, "Other than Tonks, we're all alright. She seemed to be targeted a lot more than the rest of us. No idea why. She should be alright though."

"Good." Alfie nodded, clicking his fingers absentmindedly as he perched on the arm of a chair that Sirius was collapsed in.

"So Voldemorts back then?" Sirius sighed, breaking the awkward and nervous silence that had fallen over us. Molly gave a little shudder at his name but didn't make a big deal about it.

"Well he's been back for ages." Nyx pointed out, "But now people know he is, so its different."

"Fudge'll probably retire soon." Kingsley said, "Everyone in office will be practically begging for his resignation."

"Hmm." I nodded automatically, not really listening to a word that was spoken.

"You OK Ted?" Dad asked, making us all jump as he flooed in through the fireplace. He pulled me up off my seat and into a tight hug, he'd obviously been crying.

"How is she?" Sirius, Molly and Kingsley said together, looking up from where they were talking to one another. Sirius had also leapt to his feet, nearly knocking Alfie off the chair as he did so.

"Doing alright." Dad replied, still not letting go of me, "She'll survive."

A collective sigh of relief echoed around the room, the paleness on each person's face leaving slightly.

"She's a lot tougher than we give her credit for you know." Sirius said, sinking once more into his seat, "She'd make it through most things people threw at her. As much as I hate the rest of them; Blacks are fairly indestructible."

"Hmm." Molly nodded in agreement, a small smile twitching at the corner of her mouth. Dad finally let go of me, collapsing onto a chair that Nyx had shoved under him.

"Can I talk to you for a minute please Ted." She said bitterly, more of a command than a question.

"I su-" I didn't even have time to finish my sentence before she'd grabbed the back if my shirt and hauled me out of the room.

"Right Edward Remus Lupin." She pinned me up against a wall, one hand poised and ready to smack me around the face. And it did- hard.

"What?" I spluttered, raising my hands up in defeat, "What have I done?"

"Is Sirius alive in our time?" Nyx asked seriously (A.N- no joke intended).

"Umm, yes." I nodded cautiously, gasping as she hit me again, "But what's wrong with that?"

"Oh my Merlin!" She sighed exasperatedly, stepping back and hitting her forehead with the palm of her hand like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "Don't you understand?!" She nearly yelled the last bit, making me jump slightly.

"What is so bad about saving an innocent life?" I shouted at her, "So what?!"

"He wasn't meant to survive!" Nyx screamed back, "You have completely destroyed the fabric of time and thrown everything off and you say 'so what'! You might have just altered the entire course of life, stopped yourself existing, maybe even ended up killing Harry! And you don't care?! You are so dead Lupin!"

She drew out her wand and shoved it right into my throat, pinning me back up against the wall.

"You don't know any spells." I pointed out calmly, gently pushing the wand tip away from me.

"Try me." She growled. Nyx was just about to destroy me when she was lifted away. Sirius had his arms wrapped around her waist and was holding her arms tight to her sides to try and stop her from literally killing me.

"Oi." He joked lightly, "We'd all appreciate it if Ted went home to his girlfriend in one piece."

"Get off me Black!" Nyx carried on yelling, kicking at his shins.

"And let you turn my dearest friend here into a jelly?" Sirius teased, "Not bloody likely. Remus mate can you give me a hand?"

"Fine." Dad sighed and I could hear the creak of the chair as he got up, "Petrificus Totalus." I smirked slightly as Nyx froze in Sirius's arms, still glaring daggers at me.

"That was mean." Alfie said teasingly, poking his head around the doorway.

"It was that or we'd have to scrape Teddles off the floor." Sirius handed Nyx over to Dad who was a bit shocked at first but stabled himself and carried her back through into the living room.

"I don't want you guys to leave." Sirius pouted as we followed him back through the door, "You're just too much fun."

"We will need to leave in a couple of days Padfoot." I said sadly, "Once Mums out of St. Mungos. And plus, we'll have to wipe your memories so you won't actually know any better."

"Smart arse." Sirius coughed slightly, getting him a jab in the ribs.

"If you talk to us like that," Alfie put a hand to his heart, acting offended, "We might just leave earlier."

"No please don't leave me!" Padfoot yelled straight away, dropping down onto his knees and clutching my shirt in both hands, "Please don't leave me!"

"We'd love to stay mate." I shrugged, but what choice do we really have?"

"None." I shrugged, pulling Sirius back up to his feet, "We need to go. And soon."
