Super sorry this was late. My older brother almost died (not even joking) on Saturday night, wasn't informed until Sunday, plus Halloween itself, and then I had plans yesterday.

Anyways, on with the grand finale of TWEWYTober2021 with a whopping 4272 words!

"Megumi smiles as two friends properly meet for the first time, completely unaware that such a chain of events were brought upon by Joshua's generosity."

-xXx-

Megumi doesn't expect to wake after his timer hits zero, after the Composer bids him a farewell as His pick and his partners watch in slowly growing horror behind him as he fades into erasure.

But they open again, and the Composer is kneeling in front of him in the Room of Reckoning, with a small fond smile.

"Sir?" he asks, confused. "What's going on? I thought that..."

"Relax, Megumi," The Composer says, still in his human form. "Deep breaths now."

"But... the city! It's still—"

"Standing, yes," The Composer finishes.

Megumi's confused. "I thought that you were going to destroy it, as our Game entailed."

"I thought so too," The Composer says, looking away from him. "But I admit that there may still be some value in keeping it around."

So He changed His mind? That doesn't happen often, the Composer can be as stubborn as a bull.

"Why the change of heart?"

The Composer doesn't meet his eyes, but Megumi doesn't miss the fond look on His face. "I was... let's say convinced otherwise."

"By Neku Sakuraba?"

The Composer blinks, before finally looking back to him, a bright smile on His face. "Why, how sharp of you, Megumi! You don't miss a thing!"

Megumi can't help but return the smile. The city he loved was still here in its entirety. But that just begs the question. He had been erased.

"Why am I still here?"

"Because you don't deserve erasure. I chose to spare the city, like you had in our Game. I suppose that it wouldn't be fair to tell you that I would destroy the city you love if you failed to protect it, and kill you and erase the city you love, but spare it anyways. Don't you agree?"

"O-Of course, Sir."

"Besides," He continues, as if Megumi hadn't responded at all. "I don't think I'd rather have anyone else as my Conductor. Well, actually, I'd rather have Neku, but I'm afraid even I can't have everything that I want."

"If you would permit my saying so, I do not believe that he would be so keen on returning to the UG to lead the ones who worked hard to erase him."

"Yes, I suppose so." The Composer smiles and shakes his head. "Oh! Just so you aren't too surprised, I took the liberty of reviving both Yodai Higashizawa and Mitsuki Konishi, given that they both tried to protect the city, albeit in their own ways."

"I thank you for your generosity, Sir. What about Minamimoto? Will he be brought back from erasure as well?"

The Composer merely giggles. "All in due time, Megumi. I have a feeling that the little lion will return without my interference."

As He had said, Konishi and Higashizawa had been resurrected along with him. 777 and his bandmates had been revived too, but the Composer had neglected to mention that.
