Life has a funny way of bringing people together. Although you weren't sure if it was life what brought him to your office. He knew exactly where you worked.

"What brings you here?" You asked, but you knew why he was here. At least you thought you knew. You sat on your chair, and he walked into the office to sit across from you. He told himself that he would stay far away from you, but he couldn't. He wasn't going to. He knew that you wouldn't speak with him under any other circumstance so he would lie.

"I need your help." He spoke.

"With?" You raised your eyebrow. You knew he had money. You weren't sure if it was his money or his family's, but that didn't matter to you.

"I have a brother I want you to find. My mother apparently had him as a teen and gave him up for adoption." He lied, and you hummed in response.

"Do you have any sort of details that could help? Maybe a birth certificate? Baby picture?" You questioned and he nodded in response as he pulled out his phone. He showed you one of his baby pictures, thinking you wouldn't be able to figure out it was him. He had no idea how smart you were.

"Really, Satoru? You both have the same dads?" You asked and he shook his head. You had to hold back from laughing. That baby looked too much like him to be his half-brother. They looked as if they were identical twins. But he thought you wouldn't notice. "Alright, then."

"Will you help me?" He put his phone away and you hummed in response. It would all lead to nothing. But you wouldn't do anything until he told you the truth. By that time he would have signed a contract and be forced to pay you even though you had done nothing.

"Of course, I'll help you find your brother." You smiled at him.

"Alright when can we start?" He was quick to say.

"We? This is a one man job, Satoru. You hired me and I don't need your help. I'll start tomorrow when you sign your contract." You responded, and he realized that perhaps he had not thought things through.

"When can I sign the con-"

"Tomorrow. I'll call you when it's ready and you tell me when you're available." You cut him off.

"Can I help you? I feel like everything would go so much faster if we work together." He shared, and you stared at him in silence for a minute. You fought back a smirk as you decided on what to say. He was wrapped around your finger, you knew that much. Or at least you knew that no sane person who had no interest in someone, would go to the lengths of making up a fake brother and give their cash out. Or maybe he was just insane.

"It's really unprofessional, Satoru. I'm not sure..." You began. It was unprofessional from your part to even be having this conversation since you knew his "brother" wasn't real.

"Please, I promise I'll help." He held up his pinky finger, and you didn't take it.

"Alright." You gave in. You would mess around with him, make sure to waste his time the same way he was wasting yours.

"Thank you! Can we meet for coffee later?" He asked and you remembered you had a date later in the day.

"I'm busy, so I can't really meet up later. Tomorrow." You answered.

"Busy? You have a date?" He was quick to question, and you weren't sure how that concerned him. But you answered anyways.

"Yeah, my husband is finally taking me out." You revealed, and the man had to put his hand on his chin to prevent his jaw from falling onto the floor.

"He's finally paying attention to you? That's nice to know..." He cleared his throat before standing up from his chair.

"Satoru-" You spoke and he was quick to turn to look at you. He hoped you had something important to say. He didn't understand why he felt like this.

"Your fly is down." You informed him with a smirk and you saw his cheeks get red. He was quick to zip up his pants.

"I'll see you tomorrow." He waved at you before walking out of the door.

"This restaurant is oddly nice..." You commented as you looked around the place. You weren't even sure if you were dressed appropriately. You dressed to match your husband's look so you didn't exactly stick out like a sore thumb.

"Only the best for you, sweetheart." Your husband smiled, and you knew he wanted something. You nodded before bringing the glass of water up to your lips. You continued eating quietly. You were focused on other people's chatter because you knew that your own wasn't entertaining enough. For either of you.

"How's work?" You asked. The question would leave your lips each time he came home. But that had changed. He rarely came home at a decent time, and when he did you were distant.

"Same old, same old." He answered. "Boring and tiring."

"That's-" You didn't know what to say so you stopped yourself. He didn't say anything else. You at least hoped he would ask how your work was doing. But it was always like this. He never seemed to care enough about you.

You weren't exactly sure why you were still with him. You weren't exactly the type of person that would want to share their partner. He was charming, once upon a time. Maybe you were just scared of divorce and the stigma that was around it. At least the stigma you had seen while growing up. You didn't care much of what other people thought of you, but you were scared of the divorcee status.

"What do you want?" You finally asked. He nearly choked on his food, bringing the water up to his mouth to calm down his coughing. He was bringing attention to the table, which for some reason embarrassed you. Not only were you underdressed but he was also choking on his food. Just great.

"What do you mean? What do I want?" He questioned once he calmed down.

"You obviously invited me here for something. The last couple of months you have forgotten that you have a wife. Why did that suddenly change?" You argued. You could be many things but not dumb.

"Do you think so-" He began but you cut him off.

"Cut to the chase. I know you want something." You stated, and he sighed before dropping his utensils on the table.

"I'll be going on a trip next month for a week or so." He finally confessed.

"Date?" You raised your eyebrow and he nodded. You chuckled as you put your utensils down as well.

"What's so funny, honey?" He looked at you completely confused as to why you were laughing.

"Nothing, honey." You responded in between laughs. The laughter wasn't too loud to bring any attention to you. But even if it was you didn't care.

Sure, you were scared of divorce but you were so frustrated with the man that divorce didn't sound too bad.
