Beep… beep… beep.
Annoying beeping, can’t they see someone is sleeping here? Wait, sleep?
I opened my eyes, and saw white ceiling. I went to go throw the blanket over my head so the light wouldn’t burn, but my arms wouldn’t move, they almost felt like dead weight… my whole body did, like I had been tossed in a salad, except with tree branches and I was an abused piece of lettuce.
I thought back to what happened, soon remembering that I had been hit with tons of trees.
"I see you’re awake." A certain way too familiar voice observed from next to me.
I jumped in surprise, didn’t even notice he was here, and soon I glared at him in annoyance. "Don’t scare me like that, Sasuke!"
"Don’t be an idiot and almost get killed then." He retorted.
I pouted a bit, and soon it went silent, but not for too long. "Naomi," Sasuke started, clearing his throat a bit. "The Hokage died."
My eyes widened at his blunt statement. "What? How?"
"He died trying to kill Orochimaru."
"Well, is Oro dead too?"
He shook his head, at which I frowned at; it was silent once again. I can’t believe the Hokage’s dead… but yet, I couldn’t cry. I wasn’t that close to him.
"His funeral is today, in a couple of hours."
My eyes widened in realization. "Gaara! What happened to Gaara?"
"Naruto kicked his butt." He replied simply, I shrugged. Sounds like him!
I stared at Sasuke, tilting my head a bit. He gave me a confused look. "What?"
As I was about to answer, a nurse came in. "Oh! You’re awake. The doctor said once you were awake, you could leave. So, Uchiha-San, please leave her so she can get dressed in her clothes. You can wait outside."
I blinked a couple of times before looking down, sighing in relief when I was in one of those stupid hospital gowns, and not bandages this time.
Sasuke left the room, and so did the nurse so I could get dressed, which I did. I noticed Sasuke had gotten me funeral clothes, so I put those on. I looked in the mirror after I was done brushing my hair and frowned. "Plain."
I mean, I liked black clothes a lot, but this really needed more color. It was just a normal long black sleeve shirt, a skirt and my ninja shoes… with one of those small little hats, they usually have feathers on them, I think they’re lolita-ish… you know what I’m talking about, yeah.
I walked out of the room to see Sasuke, he held out a plate, which I blinked at. "It’s strawberry shortcake, I made some for when you woke up." He explained, pushing the plate towards me more.
I gave him a suspicious look before taking it. "Is it poisoned?"
"No…"
I stabbed a mixture of the cake and strawberries with my fork, and cautiously smelled it. He glared at me in annoyance. "Just because I made it doesn’t mean it’s poisoned! I made it from one of your recipes anyway."
"Oh, okay. I know it’s fine then." I stated cheerily, taking a bite of it. "Who’d poison someone with cake anyway?"
The cake tasted pretty good, like anything from a recipe of my family’s. Except that Stuffed Artichoke one. I shuttered at the thought of it, which caught Sasuke’s attention. "Don’t like it?"
"Of course I do! I was just thinking about Stuffed Artichokes." I replied quickly, trying to reassure him.
"How did Strawberry shortcake make you think of that?" He questioned as we started walking to the funeral, but first to meet up with the rest of the team.
"Good question." And then I sighed, trying to think of what to talk about. "Duck butt, where’s my iPod?"
"In my pocket."
Now it was my turn to give him a confused look. "Why? Can I have it back?"
"No, I want to listen to it." He argued, grabbing the iPod out of his pocket and putting the earphones in his ears.
"Go get your own iPod!" I pouted, trying to grab the iPod from him, which he dodged. "Sasuke!"
He started to ignore me, completely paying attention to the iPod. I went to reach for the iPod again, but Sasuke grabbed me and pinned me against the fence.
I looked up which Sasuke took the chance to cup my chin and start to lean forward, I froze, anyone could tell what would come next… or not.
"Am I interrupting something?" Someone questioned, obviously amused. And that someone happened to be… Nari.
I shrieked before quickly breaking out of Sasuke’s grasp, feeling my face heat up while Sasuke just kind of grunted. "Nari."
"I can come back later…" She suggested, kind of stepping away.
"No!" Before I could say anything else, Sakura, Naruto and my family came up behind us.
"Naomi-Chan!" Ayame happily shouted,
I waved at her and quickly turned to Nari. I quietly pleaded her not to tell them, she just laughed and nodded. Although it shouldn’t matter, but if she did tell them, Aya would tease me…
"Naomi-Chan, are you ready to go to the funer- why are you blushing?" She questioned, My heart sped up in panic as I blushed more.
"No reason!" I assured her as I glanced over to Sasuke to see him smirking, which didn’t help me at all.
Ayame sent me a skeptical look before looking towards Sasuke. "What did he do?"
"I-" To stop Sasuke from saying anything, I jumped on his back and slapped my hand over his mouth.
"To the funeral!" I yelled, pointing towards the funeral place. Everyone hesitated for a moment, utterly confused, but slowly all started going to the funeral. To ease up the awkward silence, I started to sing, of course.
"I’ve got a jar of dirt, I’ve got a jar of dirt, I’ve got a jar of dirt and guess what’s inside it? I’ve got a jar of dirt, I’ve got a jar of dirt, I’ve got a jar of dirt and guess what’s inside it? I’ve got a jar of dirt, I’ve got a jar of dirt, I’ve got a jar of dirt and guess what’s inside it!"
Shan and Aya were the first to react, "I love that!"
I laughed at their responces. "I do too."
We soon got to the funeral, a sad feeling washed over me. I stood in the front, Sasuke to my left and Naruto to my right. As the funeral started, rain came down. I looked up. "Such a sad day."
My teammates nodded, and soon Naruto started to talk to Iruka.
My eyes slowly trailed over to Sasuke, I felt my stomach do a flip. The image of earlier flashed in my mind; I shook my head to push it away.
Sasuke glanced over to me, I quickly looked away, feeling my face heat up again. What’s wrong with me?
--
"See you guys later!" Naruto shouted as he went the direction to his house.
Sakura smiled at us, "I’ll be going too, see you later." She went on the path to her house.
Sasuke smirked. "Let’s go." I nodded and gave a small wave to the two teammates that were almost out of view.
Once we got to the house, I sent Sasuke a small smile. "I’m going to bed." I announced, turning to go to my room.
"It’ two in the afternoon." He pointed out, making me sweat drop.
I looked over my shoulder at him, "Yeah, but it’s been a long day and I just got out of the hospital. I think I should rest."
Before he could continue the conversation, I ran up the stairs and locked myself in my room. I threw myself at the bed and sighed.
So Sasuke likes me…
