Nora was a small owl. Despite being almost 18 she was still a fledgling and couldn't even fly long distances like many of the other grown owls. She got lost sometimes but even then there was one rule. Stay away from eagles. The eagles would destroy any owl they found on "their territory" as they were much larger and stronger then most of the owls. Like most weeks she managed to get lost in the birch forest at the edge of the woods. It was raining and her wings were soaked useless at flying now. She hid under a tree which helped get out of the rain.
Soon she heard it the load screech of an eagle and one close. Looking up through the canopy she saw a large eagle much larger then any wild eagle. She did her best to sink in as close to the tree as possible never having been so close to an eagle. Soon enough he went back around circling something close but not seeming to circle her which was good. At one point he did a twist slightly showing his wings back showing the brown feathers the occasional golden brown feathers. Nora didn't know if it was a young bald eagle or a golden eagle. Eventually it became it's hybrid form showing blonde hair and black clothes. Soon enough he heard another in the distance and started getting more anxious.
Now there were 3 one clearly being a bald eagle. Soon enough one spotted her. They made eye contact and her wings shrunk behind her fear in every movement. He didn't say a word acting as though he never saw her. "All clear dad!" He said and they proceeded to leave, well all accept the eagle that saw her. She began shaking trying to get up but her legs were jelly her fear controlling her.
The eagle landed quickly his wings brown with white bits on the inside of it then the same brown and golden brown feathers on the display side of the wings. Her wings instinctively wrapped around her like a safety blanket as he walked up. She couldn't see him and prayed he just made her death quick but was quite surprised when she felt a hand touch her wing moving it slightly. She stared with fear as her wings moved and she could see him squatting in front of her. "Are you alright fledgling?" He asked softly smiling at her. She looked at him shocked but instinctively shook her head no quickly worrying that's be the wrong answer.
"Are you lost? I can help you if you liked...your an owl right? Over in the dark oak part of the woods?" She nodded looking away before asking a question in a quiet almost mute voice. "W-why do you...care?" She asked. He tilted his head to the side. "why wouldn't I?" He asked on return. "I-im an owl." She said still weary and worried this was a manipulation tactic. He gave her another weird look before continuing not addressing what she said. "I can't really take you to dark oak area I'm not allowed near there until I take over. I can direct you though! If you can fly." He said.
She glared at him with fear still in her eyes "m-my wings are wet...I can't fly." She said looking down at the ground. He smiled at her. "Want a nice warm place to dry off?" He asked. "Can even make you a meal." He offered. She was weary but it had been hours since she ate and she was freezing in her current condition so when he offered his hand she hesitated but did accept it. The brown haired male took her through the forest with absolute certainty clearly knowing the path despite it not showing in the tall grass. Soon enough a small Cott came into view. "Ain't much but I call it second home. It's nice to be secluded sometimes." He said leading her in. It was small and quaint. A bet layed in one corner clearly king size and there were a few chests strewn about. A work bench and a few other decorative items. The kitchen looked nice despite being so small. Overall it had a tiny but cozy feeling to it.
"My name's shade by the way." He let go of her hand and he noticed that she didn't seem to want to let go at first but he was probably just imagining it b he began making food as she went into the bathroom to try to dry off some. She found some towels and wrapped herself in them trying to get dry. There was a knock on the door making her squack slightly and instinctively. "don't squack at me in bringing you new clothes!" Shade said in a clearly joking tone. She opened the door and he handed her the close with a smile. "they're mine so they may be a bit big but they're warm!" He said. She nodded closing the door and changing and he wasn't lying. The sweater had a soft fur lining on the inside instantly making her feel warmer. She found herself sinking into the shirt even loving the smell. it smelled earthy and smokey. Like a bonfire in autumn. She suddenly broke into a blush realizing she was enjoying shades smell on his sweater.
