This is basically just a really long fluff with so e smut at the end

Shade woke up with a startle. He heard a scream in the distance. His sensitive ears pushing down into his head trying to make it quieter.

He got up getting dressed quickly in less then royal clothes. He always found ways to disappoint the "royal" family name. He never believed they were special.

He opened his door walking out of his room and down the hall. Soon enough he was outside the castle. The moonlight was bright and full shining over their lake beautifully. Even despite it sounding like someone was dying just a few miles away.

He went to the stables getting a horse a sword before riding out of the city. He often left unannounced. Most people didn't even know he was the kings son. He acted much like a common folk. Spent his time working with the people which is why he was going out. He may not believe in his family being "royals" but they did have one job and that was to protect their people.

His horse knew what it was to do running quickly through the woods over fallen logs and through small creeks down the way. He followed his ears and soon enough he picked up on a smell. A hybrid in heat was clearly nearby which only worried him more. He shook the reins yelling a command in a language long forgotten. The horse sped up more seeming to reach almost impossible speeds. He reached a clearing the screaming clearly close. He saw a group of fox males over some girl.

He got off his horse and ran up knocking two of the 4 down growling lowly. The foxes backed up as wolves we considered "alphas" to them. Foxes do not mess with wolves. The hierarchy didn't allow it. They backed off quickly converting to their fox forms and scampering off into the woods with a few snarled yips.

He looked over to see the girl no longer there. Until he looked down in the tall grass and saw a scratched up ferret. He frowned sadly picking the small ferret up. It snarled at him and even bit him but he didn't seem to care. He picked them up and held them close to their chest. He knew they wouldn't leave ferret form. When Injured and emotionally distressed it was easier to maintain an animal form as a hybrid. It allowed you to heal better in many ways. She quickly stopped fighting against him realizing he wouldn't hurt her. He went over to the horse situating some items in his satchels so one in the front was empty before setting the ferret in it leaving the top off so she could breath. He got on the horse before beginning a much less fast journey home.

Shade had a lot to think about. In the hierarchy there are specific classes. The lower classes consisted of "prey" hybrids often kept as pets or slaves by the higher status classes. Low class predators were more common folk sometimes bigger prey animals could fit in but sadly people were not very accepting. Shade was he didn't care about dumb things like social hierarchy or royals. At the end of the day they were all hybrids. They could work together but predatory hybrids feel the need to be almighty.

Ferrets fell low on the hierarchy. They were considered a predator but in their kingdom they were rare. Kept specifically as slaves or pets. They were dangerous to other predators unless their nails and teeth were clipped according to the high class. They were heavily abused and often didn't make it long in the kingdom before either being sold or killed. They were feisty so often got themselves into trouble. Shade was worried about it. He didn't want anyone to hurt her. He felt a need to protect. He was an alpha he protects his own and since saving her she'd became his own. Like any other Kingdom member.

He finally got back to the stables. He put the horse up and grabbed a now sleeping ferret from the sachel. He held her close to his chest as he walked through the halls anxious a servant would walk by or a guard and see her. He got to his room safely. His rats squeaked happily. He always was out catching animals and bringing them home. It was easy to tell animal form hybrids from animals since their faces and eyes were so different. It was hard to explain they looked like the animal but we're much more expressive. Showed cognative abilities most animals can't.
