"Over here!""Ryland cover Max!"
I look up from the place I'm laying on the thin blanket, to see a blonde boy throw the football over a wide distance, Tommy jumping up and catching it with ease.
"He is a god. I'm sure of it." One of Daisy's friends speak up making me look at her. She has long, black sleek hair and mesmerizing emerald eyes.
"You said he didn't have a date to your wedding?" Misty asks Daisy who shakes her head slightly shooting me a look for whatever reason.
I ignore the look immediately and grab my glass of wine downing a good amount of it.
The sun is setting slowly but surely making a soft breeze stay with us, the soft material of the flowery dress, Daisy lent me, flying around me.
"How can he not have a date? I thought he'd have a girlfriend after all."
"I don't think he's ready to settle down for any kind of relationship." Daisy says while I lay on my back, crossing my ankles and stare up into the cloudless sky.
"I mean that's not bad either, I'd love to have a night-"
"Misty!" The black haired girl scolds her before erupting into a slight chuckle.
"I don't think any man at our age is ready to settle down." Misty says making Daisy clear her throat.
"Besides your Ryland of course."
"But he's not our age. I thought 23 would be old enough to be in a mature relationship. Emilia what do you think?" I quickly look at Misty surprised that she talked to me directly.
I prop myself up on my elbows to see her better.
"What do you mean?" I ask confused. Surely she doesn't want to hear my opinion on that topic.
Daisy was right her friends are..friendly but just not my cup of tea. They're nosy and kind of superficial which I can't relate to the slightest bit.
Or I'm just to stuck up to relax around strangers and ease into the role of the quiet friend."You know Tom your whole life. Is he the type to settle down?" She asks me making two pair of curious eyes look at me.
Her question is easy. If she'd asked me about the old Tommy.
I'd say yes in an instant. Tommy was an old soul, he was loyal, kind, yes he was cocky and sarcastic but he always stood up to the people who were important to him.
He would do anything in his power to make those people happy, content. But now. I have no absolute clue.
"I knew him a long time ago."
"But people don't change that much, surely you know his type or what he likes." She says and something cold washes over me.
"You could be surprised of how much people can change, Misty." With that the topic dies down and I lie on my back again, Daisy starting a new conversation of their dresses.
"I'll check over the meat!" I hear Ryland call and I turn my head to see him jog over to the grill.
My eyes wander to him on instinct and at first I want to move my eyes when I see him looking at me but I don't.
He took of his button up, dressed now in a tank top his skin glistening in the sinking sun, his dark hair curling in his neck, a silver necklace shining around it.
His eyes are on me as the boys wait for Ryland to come back and join the game again while I wonder what's going on in Tommy's head.
I didn't see him after his outburst this morning at breakfast until we arrived at the field and I didn't dare talk to him.
