After my class with Mr. Simmons, I went to Biology. Oh great. There were paired tables. The teacher, Mrs. Devon, made me stand in front until everyone was seated. I did an introduction again the she pointed me to a seat.

"Okay everyone. Today we will be assigning partners. Those of you sitting on the left side of the classroom will be picking from the people on the right."

At least I was on the right. I'd probably get picked last since I was new. Surprise! I didn't.

I got picked by some guy who I now know is named Colt Hanson. Why the heck would he pick me?

"Um, hi, I'm Grace."

"Colt. So you just moved here?"

"Uh yeah. My dad got a job directing some big movie. So now here I am."

He gave me a smile that was heart melting. No! I told myself. I'm not going to fall in love. I'm not going to fall in love.

Luckily the teacher began to explain our upcoming projects before we could further our conversation and my nervousness.

"Hey, Grace, do you wanna maybe hang out sometime?" Colt asked once the bell rang.

Being me, I mentally panicked.

"You know, so we can work on all these projects?"

Oh. That made more sense.
"Um, yeah, sure. I can, uh, call you and maybe you could come over."
I would feel much better if I could be under the safety of my own home.

"Okay," he sounded enthusiastic, "Let me give you my number and you can give me yours."

We handed each other our phones and found out we had the next class together. Great I already had a friend. Too bad this is repeating my freshman year.

My first day I met Tanner was also the first day of school. We had all classes together and immediately became best friends. He branched me out to my other best friend Emma, which led to all my other friends. We tried dating a few times, but we both agreed this was just too awkward for the both of us. We remained best friends until my last day when he couldn't even say good bye.

That first day became the beginning of my best years. The years I thought would last forever. I chose to try and forget the 'last'.

At our next class (world history), Colt introduced me to all of his friends. All guys. Great. This is another image I don't want to have on me. After that class, we went to lunch together.

"Warning, some of these foods are pretty dangerous and you don't want to eat them. For example, don't ever eat the school's tacos unless you plan on internally dying."

I laughed at that as we made our way through the crowded cafeteria. He led me to a table full of his friends and then some. I was glad to see some girls I could meet so I wouldn't be the girl who only talks to boys.

"Hey Grace!" I'm pretty sure his name was Preston.

"Hi! Preston, right?"

"Yup!"

"Grace," someone walked by me, "Why don't you come sit with us?"

"Uhhhh..." I looked to Colt to for some help. I didn't know who this chick was. He gave me a nod that said "it's fine. She's cool". I said, "Yeah, that sounds awesome."

As I walked with this girl who I had no idea who was, she started talking to me. About what? I'm not sure. Sounded a lot like nothingness to me. I heard, "blah blah blah new girl blah blah blah popular blah blah blah stay away." At that last part I actually started to pay attention.

"I'm sorry. What'd ya say? I couldn't hear you over the noise." Nice lie.

"Ugh. Fine. Your the new girl here, I get that. Big news for everyone. But Colt Hanson is one of the most popular guys at school. It just doesn't make sense. So if I were you, I would suggest you stay away from him."

I already hated this girl. Hate is a strong word, I know. But when it's your first day at a new school in the middle of the year, you kind of want to hate a person who tells you to stay away from your currently only friend.

"Oh. Uh, I'm not sure that's really in my control..." What do you even say to something like that?!?!

The rest of the day went by fast. I met a girl named Jessica and she introduced me to her friends. I feel like I'm doing a good job for a first time. Jessica insisted that we hang out more. Not exactly my thing but I decided you know what, why not? I found out that the mean girl at lunch was named Stella. She sounded super bratty.

So in short, my first day was very eventful. Friends, enemies, what could go wrong? Haha, everything.
