I finally got to home on Wednesday afternoon. You don't realize how amazing your bed feels, until after you haven't slept in it in nearly a week.

I was back at school tomorrow so I pep talked myself for the attention I'd probably get.

I got plenty of rest. For the first time in forever, I didn't have a nightmare. For the day, I put on the school plaid skirt, a royal blue collared fitted shirt, a denim jacket, and black flats. I put my hair into a simple high ponytail and put on mascara only.

I wasn't supposed to go anywhere without anyone so I had a designated person for everything. First class, Trig, I would be with Jessica. Second class, Biology, it was Colt. He was with me for biology, world history, lunch, and English. So pretty much most of my day.

For my electives I didn't know anyone so Colt volunteered to do that part too. He was also my ride home. I'm too attached to this guy, but I never cared.

I would come home, make some dinner, watch reality TV shows, then do school work. Go to sleep, wake up, and repeat.

That was it for my week. Just the same old same old. And for a couple of weeks. Nothing. It was like the world just decided to slow down for no apparent reason. It was like life just stopped.

But before I wen realized it, it was March 17th. Exactly a month away from prom. How stupid was I? I only have a month to prep for prom. Layla would be there and so would Will. How could Layla leave me hanging like this? Oh wait. She never knew.

"Mom!" It was a Saturday. I should be able to go.

"Yes?"

"I'm heading into town to shop for a bit. Can you put some money into my card?" Mom had a system of putting some money into each kid's card. It was actually really cool.

"Sure. How much?"

"I'll need quite a bit. Not sure how much though."

"Just bring it up as credit. Try not to go too overboard okay?"

"Okay Mom. I promise."

I got into Mom's convertible and started the car. Did I forget to mention I finally got my driver's license? It took me like 5 different tries, but I got it.

I drove to this highly recommended prom place called Henri's. It was perfect. They had shoes, jewelry, and most importantly dresses. I'd still have to get a boutonnière, but I'll get that a week before prom.

"Welcome to Henri's, how can I help you?" The front desk lady asked.

"Ummm I need everything."

"No problem. Alexa will be right with you."

Alexa?

"Hi my name is Alexa! I'll be your helper today in picking out a prom dress. So I hear you need a little bit of everything?"

"Hi I'm Grace. Yes I do. I kinda underestimated when I should start planning and I guess time just slipped away from me."

"Not a problem. We still have a wide variety of dresses available. Do you know what size you are?"

"Um 6 I think. I'm not sure."

"I'll get you measured. What color are you looking into?"

Turns out I was a 6. To be honest 6 was just a guess. For my color I wasn't sure. I'm still so new to this whole shopping thing.

"Any shade of blue." It was my favorite color so why not?

"Perfect. That's the color we have most of at the moment."

We pulled a total of 5 dresses that caught my eye and Alexa thought would look good on me. One was a baby blue chiffon spaghetti strap dress with a diamond studded top. The second was a royal blue mermaid style, with a ruffled bottom. The third was one I picked out, which was a puffy Cinderella dress in the shade of cobalt. The fourth was fitted short almost cocktail dress colored in cerulean. The fifth was a sapphire blue strapless gown covered in jewels. I hated them all.

We went back to the racks and searched in different colors. Only one jumped out at me. It was in my size. Like it was meant to be. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. I bought it along with a pair of silver "Toni T-Strap Cage Platforms" and a "Mariel Regal Crystal necklace and earring" set. Not bad. Just hair and makeup is my only worry.

Colt said he would pick me up at 4 for pictures and dinner. We'd have pictures at my house. Then his house. Then professionally. We were going as a group with friends from his football team. Will this work out for me? I won't know these people!

I couldn't make an appointment so plan B is try to make it conspicuous and get Layla to do it for me.

Not bad for a last minute prom prepper...
