Chp. 9 - Pandemonium

Halle and Aniya soon made their way to a gate leading to the park, two guards manning the structure.

"Okay," Halle said in relief. "We're safe now."

The guards signaled for the young CEO to come to a stop, Halle doing so as the gate slowly opened.

"Are you guys alright?" one of them asked. "We received word that two guests were still out in the valley. I'm guessing you two were the guests."

"We were," Halle said. "We were close to the jungle when we got the announcement that all the rides got closed off. I figured we were dealing with another sick animal until I saw that monstrosity of a dinosaur running around. What is that thing? And why is it loose?"

"Your guess is as good as ours, boss," the other guard answered. "We're never in the know for what they create up there."

"Yeah," she said, "neither am I, apparently."

"Um..." Aniya said, tugging on Halle's arm, "...auntie..."

Halle looks behind her just as the guards look up. A swarm of Pterodactyls were seen flying toward them, no doubt on their way to the park.

"Get outta here!" the guards urged the ladies. "We'll try and hold them off!"

Halle and Aniya hopped into the wrangler and zoomed past the gate towards the park. Meanwhile, Chloe and Megan made it back to the park, Megan trying to find a different vehicle so they could get around quicker.

"Attention Aviary employees," ACU announced. "There has been a containment breach."

Suddenly, Chloe felt her phone buzz, immediately picking it up.

"Hello?"

"Chloe," Lowery said, "we spotted your sister and niece on surveillance. They're approaching the west gate. I'm headed there now."

"Oh, thank God," Chloe sighed in relief. "Okay, stay right there. I'm on my way. Stay right with them."

"Hey!" Megan called out to the young ebony. "Get on!"

Chloe looked back before running over to the Navy veteran, mounting on the bike behind her before they zoomed to the west gate.

"Ladies and gentlemen, due to a containment anomaly, all guests must take shelter immediately."

The announcement was repeated a few times before screams began to sound all throughout the park. The reptilian birds were swooping above all the tourists, everyone trying to get their families to safety as the dangerous dinosaurs came flying towards them. Some crashed into the humans, while most picked them up and dragged them to who knows where.

"All units, take position on boardwalk," another announcement sounded as Chloe and Megan made their way toward the west gate, running towards the other ACU officers. "Use liquid tranquilizers. Do not fire live ammunition."

Megan began to shoot the flying reptilians, Chloe close behind her. She did her best to cling to the tall woman while keeping a look out for her family. Before long, she located a fallen food stand, standing on it before screaming their names.

"HALLE! ANIYA!"

Not too far from her, Halle and Aniya hear their names, turning to the direction it was coming from. They spotted Chloe and immediately ran to her hand in hand.

"CHLOE!" Halle called out.

Chloe looked over and immediately felt her eyes well up with tears. She hopped off the food stand before rushing to them, Megan watching before noticing one of the birds coming after them. She pointed her weapon at it before one of them snuck her from behind, pinning her down as she struggled. The flying dino that was chasing Halle and Aniya from behind crashed into the ground, Halle pulling Aniya away from it as it landed inches away from them.

Chloe grabbed Megan's gun before smacking it in the head. The action made the animal yelp. She shot it multiple times before helping Megan up. The dread headed woman handed the Texan her gun moments before the tall ebony pulled her in for a kiss. As surprised as she was, Chloe kissed back, touching her hand to the Megan's cheek for only a moment before they pulled away. Aniya watched everything in confusion, while Halle had a knowing smirk on her face. Once the haze of the kiss lifted, Chloe turned to her sister and niece, emotions at an all-time high before she embraced them.

"My God, what happened!?" she asked them. "Where did ya'll go!? And why didn't ya'll come back!?"

"Who's that?" Aniya asked, pointing to Megan.

Chloe looked back to the woman, Megan giving her a sheepish look before she turned her attention back to her niece.

"We, uh...we work together..."

"Mhmm..." the teenager smirked.

"Now is not the time to act like your dad," Chloe said.

"Hey," Megan said, doing her best not to chuckle, "we gotta go."

"Okay," Chloe nodded.

Megan did the same before they all made their way to the innovation building in a large truck. As Megan drove, Halle stared at Chloe intensely as the three of them occupied the backseats. Chloe could feel the questions, so she braced herself for all of them.

"You wanna tell me what the hell is going on?" Halle asked. "What is that thing you're passing off as a dinosaur? And why is it loose!?"

"The Indominus Rex," Chloe sighed in regret. "The park needed a new attraction for relevancy, so our lab department created it with modified genetics from modern animals."

"Chloe...we said we weren't gonna make the same mistakes InGen made – that our goal wasn't the money or popularity. Now look what's happened."

"I know...I wasn't thinking when I gave the all-clear for this."

"You better hope we can fix this. This could ruin Jurassic World for good."

Chloe bit her lip anxiously before phoning the control room. Lowery picked up.

"Lowery," Chloe said, "Halle and I are on our way back to you."

"That's not such a good idea," Lowery said.

Chloe's eyebrows furrowed before putting him on speaker for Halle to hear.

"What's going on?" Chloe asked.

"You're all relieved of duty," the women heard a voice say as it addressed the room. "There's a new team on the ground."

"A new team?" Halle asked. "We never authorized anything like that."

"It looks like the board assigned emergency ops to InGen's private security division," Lowery informed. "This guy, Hoskins, is in charge. And he has this insane plan to use the raptors to hunt the Indominus."

"What do you mean 'use the raptors'?" Chloe asked.

"You gotta be fuckin' kidding me..." Megan said in disbelief.

"What do we do?" Chloe asked her, hanging up the phone.

"Whatever we do," Halle said, "we have to get Aniya somewhere safe, first."

"No!" the teenager said. "I wanna stay with ya'll."

"Better than getting lost in that crowd," Megan pointed out.

"Okay," Chloe said. "Let's just get to the control room. Hoskins is about to make things more complicated, and we can't afford that."

Megan slammed on the gas as they made their way to the innovation building...
