Halle Bailey was in the parking garage of her two-level, city loft, helping the bell boy load luggage into the back of a G-Class Mercedes SUV. Noticing that she was the only one helping with the bags, she dialed her niece's number. It didn't take long for the teenager to answer.
"Come on Aniya," the dread headed woman said. "If we don't get a move on, we'll miss our flight."
Up in her room, Aniya finished packing everything she'd need for the trip. She kept one of her wireless earbuds in her ear as she finally zipped up her overnight bag.
"I'll be down in a minute, auntie," she assured.
Just as she was about to head out the door, she noticed that her Nintendo switch was still on her bed. She couldn't forget about that, especially since most of, if not, all of her games on it were dinosaur inspired. Much like her aunts, she immersed herself in the cretaceous world, studying everything there was to know about dinosaurs. Paleontology really fascinated her. She just wasn't sure if it was the path she wanted to take as a career once she graduated. That's what this trip would help to figure out. Her parents were going through a bad divorce, and her aunts thought it would be good for her to escape that harsh reality with a weekend at the world's most successful attraction – Jurassic World. After the disaster that the original park went through all those years ago, it finally managed to have a successful existence under a new CEO...two new CEOs – Chloe and Halle.
They recognized what their Uncle Mark aspired to accomplish with the original park, even after he had to shut it down and create a haven for the dinosaurs on another island. Above everything the Korean-American did, he wanted the cretaceous animals to be protected and respected – to remind people that as young as this earth was, it was home to many phenomenons before humans existed. So, to honor his dying wish, Chloe and Halle took control of Jurassic Park, revising its game plan and purpose so that there was no room for failure. Their efforts proved successful for the past five years with the park gaining millions of dollars a year. The sisters were proud to have been able to keep their uncle's legacy alive.
After getting to JFK and securing their seats in first class, Halle and Aniya enjoyed their flight to Isla Nublar on American Airlines. After a few hours, they touched down on the tarmac in Costa Rica. The aunt/niece duo were among hundreds of people boarding a ferry to the island from the mainland. The boarding ramps all had Jurassic World logos on them, the colors getting Aniya excited. Halle glanced at her and smiled.
"How big is the island?" the high school senior asked.
"Bigger than you could even imagine," Halle answered.
Aniya beamed as the ferry sailed across the water. The two women stood at the rail the whole time, watching the scenery around them.
"You know," Halle said after a while, "when we first opened the park, we only had eight species. Now, we have fourteen herbivores and six carnivores."
"That's like..." Aniya said, "...fifty tons of food a week!"
Halle chuckled at the teenager's shock. A few minutes later, Isla Nublar came into view as the ferry continued to sail towards it. The duo disembarked from the ship along with the other passengers once they reached the dock. A park announcer's voice was suddenly heard over the P.A. system.
"Welcome to Isla Nublar, home of Jurassic World! We hope you have a safe and enjoyable stay with us!"
As the same announcement was made in a different language, Halle looked around for her sister. She was disappointed, though, not surprised that she was nowhere to be found.
"Where's Aunt C?" Aniya asked.
"Most likely meeting with more big-time executives," Halle sighed before looking at her niece with a smile. "Come on. Let's get settled in before exploring the park."
