Chp. 11 - Ending It Once and For All

"We should get to the control room," Chloe said, her and everyone else rushing inside the innovation center. "They evacuated the lab."

Just as she said that, they all passed the lab, seeing Hoskins busying himself with the surrounding equipment. They all stopped in their tracks before entering.

"What are you doing?" Chloe asked the man.

"I'm afraid that's above your pay grade, sweetheart," Hoskins smirked.

"Where's Henry?" Halle asked.

"Dr. Wu works for us."

"What ya'll made isn't a real dinosaur," Aniya said.

"No, it ain't, kid. But somebody's gotta make sure that this company has a future. Imagine, that one, a fraction of the size, deadly, intelligent, able to hide from the most advanced military technology. A living weapon unlike anything we've ever seen. You see...millions of years of evolution, what did we learn? Nature is the gift that just-"

Delta walked toward Hoskins, Megan getting Chloe, Halle, and Aniya behind her.

"Shit..." Hoskins panicked, "...easy, boy...we're on the same side, right? I'm on your side."

Hoskins reached his hand out to the raptor, trying to touch her head. She chomped on his hand, causing him to scream out in horror and pain. Blood splattered on the walls as a result. Upon Delta dealing with Hoskins, Megan ushered everyone else outside, where Blue was already waiting for them. Megan stopped in her tracks, still keeping the other ladies behind her as she gaged Blue's attention.

"That's how it is?" she asked the animal. "Come on now...you know me...take it easy...that's it..."

Creeping out from behind came the Indominus, revealing herself before she roared at Blue. Blue looked back at Megan and chittered. Megan began to smile at the sound, remembering that the raptor only made that sound with her. Blue turned back and roared at the Indominus in defiance before knocking her away from the humans. Not too long after, Echo and Delta emerged from the nearby foliage. Blue called out to them for help, and they immediately helped her in attacking the Indominus. The group of four ran away, Megan shooting at the giant creature while doing so.

"Twenty-four..." Aniya began to utter to herself as they found a place to hide, "...fifty...we need more."

Chloe and Halle looked at her.

"More what?" Chloe asked.

"Teeth. We need more teeth."

Chloe's eyes widened as something clicked in her brain. She quickly grabbed a flare and walkie talkie.

"Ya'll wait here," she said.

"Chloe!" Halle called after her. "Where are you going!?"

"Everything will be fine!" Chloe called back as she continued running.

Running through standard protocols in her head as she ran, she quickly phoned the control room, remembering that one person had to stay back in the control room during an evacuation.

"Hello?" Lowery answered.

"Lowery!" Chloe exclaimed breathlessly. "Thank God! I need you to open Paddock 9!"

"Are you out of your mind!?"

Chloe stopped directly in front of the very gate she needed opened.

"Damn it, Lowery! Be a man and do something for once in your life!"

"...why'd you have to make it so personal?"

The paddock suddenly opened. After the incident that happened all those years ago, the ebony told herself that she would have nothing to do with the gigantic dinosaur every again. But here she was, about to draw it out to help save her and her loved ones. Upon hearing those infamous rumbles, Chloe ignited the flare, drawing the Tyrannosaurus Rex out of hiding. Once she saw her striking eyes, the ebony ran off with the flare high above her head. The rex roared loudly as it chased after her.

Meanwhile, the hybrid located Megan, Halle, and Aniya, getting her claw stuck in Aniya's shoestring as she tried to get to them. Halle unhooked it before her and Megan pulled her further back towards them. Upon looking up, Megan saw Chloe run toward the hybrid at full speed, throwing the flare at her. She stared completely dumbfounded until the T-rex smashed through a skeleton almost immediately after. She roared at the Indominus, the Indominus roaring back. The fight had begun.

"RUN!" Chloe yelled out to the others.

"Go!" Megan screamed as her, Halle, and Aniya hauled ass to meet up with Chloe on the other side.

Once they were all together again, they dash away from the battle. The T-rex roared in pain as the Indominus began to kill her. Blue came to the rescue, pouncing on the hybrid. The rex stood before knocking her into a building. The atmosphere was tense as they fought. The hybrid got tossed like a ragdoll near the lagoon before roaring. The T-rex let out a roar of her own, along with Blue. The giant water dinosaur pounced out suddenly, dragging the Indominus into her watery grave.

The rex and Blue shared a look of respect before the giant dinosaur left. Megan stood nearby the whole time, watching Blue take on a predator three times her size. Blue locked eyes with the Texan, Megan smiling with pride before shaking her head. She knew that the raptor was ready to follow any command she'd be given, but she was free now. With a hesitant chitter, Blue turned off and ran back into the jungle, her siblings doing the same.

A new day had dawned after what seemed like an eternity of hell. Chloe and Halle sat with Aniya, their heads down casted as they held one another's hands. Branson, Aniya's dad – the Bailey sisters' younger brother – saw them before rushing his way over with tears in his eyes. Chloe was the first to notice him, getting the others attention. Aniya looked up and ran to her dad, the man welcoming her with opened arms and a lingering kiss to her forehead.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

"I'm okay, dad," Aniya said. "Aunt Chloe and Aunt Halle made sure of that."

Branson looked at his older sisters and brought them in for a hug, one that was filled with so much gratitude. Chloe looked up at him with tearful eyes.

"Branson, I'm so sorry..." she whimpered.

"Shhh..." he said, wiping away her tears, "...what matters is that ya'll are alive."

The siblings held each other close, Megan smiling at the sight from a few feet away. Chloe looked to her before making her way over, Megan bringing her arms around her hips as Chloe hugged her mid-section. The two shared a kiss before Megan continued to hold her.

"So," the younger woman said, "what do we do now?"

"Stick together," Megan answered. "You know...for survival."

Chloe chuckled before the two joined Branson, Halle, and Aniya. Outside, the T-rex stomped on the old helicopter pad, her body now decorated with old as well as new scars. She looked over the island, letting out a mighty roar. She, along with all the other dinosaurs, were now free...
