No strings attached...but like-maybe just a few (Part 2)

It's been four months since the official "breakup" or sorts. Severus and James stopped hanging out, james deleted their conversations but couldn't quite bring himself to delete his phone number.

He was sitting in a cafe, with a girl of course. A new employee in one of his departments. She actually asked him out, a new change of pace for James.

She was lovely. Blonde hair, green eyes, always did her hair in soft curls. She looked like she'd be james' exact type.

But deep down in the back of his head he always had someone else's name on repeat.

But he was doing alright. Or thats what he told himself until a piece of his heart that always belonged to someone walked in through the coffee shop doors...with a girl on his arm.

She had long black hair, dark brown eyes and wore an oversized sweater. She was tall, maybe 5'8. Probably the same as James.

They looked good together.

And then Severus spotted him and their eyes met across the shop.

Severus' eyes widened for just a second before going back to his usual dead look. The girl next to him ordered with animation and looked over at him and smiled but severus was still looking at james.

The girl noticed, seeing james and eyes widening in...joy?

" oh my god. Thats James Potter. He was listed on the city's top 10 most eligible bachelors. Helps he's also a millionaire." Alex said and looked in fascination.

" Hundred millionaire actually, adding his family money."

" Really? How do you know that?"

" uh I used to have a thing with him." He admitted easily, shrugging as if the information he just told her totally didn't just blow her mind.

But then again everything was easy with alex.

" really? Like for real?" She asked with new found curiosity.

Severus nodded and finally took his eyes off james.

" mhm. But it wasn't serious."

" wow. My boyfriend dated a millionaire." Alex said with fascination.

Severus snorted and looked at little trinkets the coffee shop was also selling. How long does it take to get coffee?

" lets go say hi." Alex tugged on his sleeve.

" what? No!" Severus screeched but alex insisted.

" come on! Dont you wanna say hi? Plus i wanna see who you dated before me." She said with a smile and severus sputtered.

" we didn't exactly date."

" so it was just a one night stand?"

" ah well, no not really-"

" did it only last a week or something?"

" uh...also no-"

" wait how long did you two date?" She asked but she was smiling even wider. She was way to cavalier with this.

" we didn't date-"

" ok ok. Date is a very loose term. How long did you two have a thing." She asked, now crossing her arms.

Severus was starting to get nervous.

" .....a year."

" a year?!" Alex yelled in a whisper. It was still enough to make severus flustered and start looking around.
