By the time they reached the back end of noon, where the sun was starting to fade away from the strong rays it had been sporting previously, everybody had found themselves in the pool, the light buzz they found from alcohol very much influencing their decisions. Of course, Clarke still sat beside Lexa, the two women watching the others in the water who splashed and played like children.

"You know, Clarke, you don't have to miss out on the pool just because you feel sorry for me" Lexa said quietly, watching as Raven pinched her nose, giggling mischievously like a little girl before disappearing under the surface of the water "You should go enjoy yourself with your friends"

"I rarely do things I don't want to do, Lexa. If I didn't want to be here, I wouldn't be" She glanced at Lexa, who only blinked in response. Clearly, she couldn't find a valid reply to support her argument, and so she fell silent instead.

Luna had been floating around the pool for the last forty five minutes or so, sunglasses still planted over her eyes from when the sun was still above them. The pink inflatable sun-bed bobbed on the small waves in the pool, crafted from the others dipping and diving in the pool. She was probably asleep, overly exhausted by Raven's shenanigans.

The other girl in question was still under water, her silhouette in the water creeping under the pink inflatable.

"Oh, Christ. You know what's going to happen here, don't you?" Clarke rubbed her forehead

"No... what's going to happen?" The brunette questioned from beside her.

At that moment, Raven burst out from under the water like jaws attacking a boat. She pushed up on the inflatable, roaring as she did so and sending Luna rolling from her comfortable sleep into the water.

"Wha-" Luna's words were cut off by the mouth full of water she received as she disappeared under the surface.

"That" Clarke chuckled

"What the fuck?" Luna exclaimed.

So far, the girl had managed to keep her hair dry and safe from the water. But then had she emerged, wet curls dripping and sticking to her face with a stone cold frown fixed to her brows.

"Was that you?" She questioned Raven in frustration, patting back her hair

"No?" It sounded like a question rather than an answer, as if the girl was testing whether or not that denying it would actually work. She pinched her nose, disappearing back under the water before Luna could go any further with it. Clearly, she didn't believe a word Raven said.

Just as Raven paddled past Luna under the surface, nothing but the odd splash of a toe poking into the air every now and then, Luna reached in and all but plucked her out from the mass of water, lifting her out with a hard stare.

"Wow. Okay, I'm back..." Raven wiped her eyes pf the chlorinated water, giving her fiancé a small wave "hi"

"Goodbye Raven" Luna muttered, all but throwing the girl back into the pool with no warning. It wasn't exactly the same, since Raven was already wet and used to the water by now, but it was enough revenge for Luna.

"Your friends are... a selection" Lexa commented

"You can say they're a weird match, you know. I'd totally agree. I don't know how they're engaged." Clarke played with the cocktail umbrella she had plucked from her now empty glass, spinning it between her fingers.

"Its not that they're a terrible match. It's just confusing as to how they love each other when Luna just looks fed up with Raven most of the day"

"Well, I still love Raven." Clarke spoke before she could even think about her words correctly. Lexa glanced at her, eyes slightly narrowed in confusion and something else Clarke wasn't so sure about. The blonde scrambled to fix it "I don't know what I'd do if she wasn't my friend. Even the thought of having to live separately just feels weird."
