Chapter-11

Cassandra's POV

When we were done with dinner, I saw William pull Charlotte aside, and they both started to walk to the garden across the road. I thought William probably had something private to talk to her about, and I continued showing the other guys my designs. I saw William running across the road, and I thought they were done with their talk, but what I saw next had crushed my heart. I saw a car crash William and leave without stopping, and I started to shout and ran towards him and tears rolled from my eyes, and I saw William lying down in a pool of blood.

Cassandra: "William, William honey, are you fine?"

I tried to wake him up, but he was unconscious, so I asked

Cassandra: "anyone calls an ambulance."

Charles: "I did."

I saw Charlotte and Daniel were sitting on the road along with me, and they were crying. I tried to stop the bleeding with my dress, and I saw the ambulance had arrived, and the paramedics had lifted William and put him in the ambulance before they left. I was panicking, and I remembered I had to go along with him, so without caring about the others, I got into my car and drove, following the ambulance. Once we arrived at the hospital, the paramedics took him into a private Intensive Care Unit and asked me to stop outside. I saw a huge group of doctors and nurses run into Williams room. I was sitting there all alone when everybody came and started to comfort me. I saw Charlotte's mascara was all over her face, and Daniel was not in a good position either. Charles was trying to comfort Charlotte, but Charles, too, had a few tears in his eyes, and I saw Haley helping out Daniel. Arthur was rubbing my palms, trying to comfort me. This has happened because of me; I'm the unlucky one, anyone I like will leave me by either ditching me for the better one, or they will leave me forever. Oh god, why is this happening again? I thought I could never like a man again, but then William came into my life, and god, just why, just why me every time?

Cassandra: "it's all my fault. I should not have invited him tonight, he is lifeless because of me, and anyone I start to like will leave me" towards the end, I was shouting, crying and lying on the floor.

Arthur: "it's not your fault Betty, it was an accident" Arthur pulled me up

Cassandra: "it's the bad luck I carry Artie, I lost Ethan to another girl, I lost my baby because of mum, I lost Carter too and now William. It can't happen, Arthur; if anything happens to William, I can't take it, Artie I'm too weak to handle this now," I was shouting

Arthur: "everything will get better, Betty."

Charles: "yes, Cassandra, he is fine, and it's not at all your fault."

I turned my head towards a crying Charlotte, and I hugged her very tight, and we started to cry louder together. Haley came to comfort us, and Daniel got up from his seat and ran out. I saw Charles and Arthur run behind him.

Haley: "William will get better; girls, please cool down a bit." She said, trying to raise our spirits

I saw the doctor come, and I got up in hopes of him giving us some good news

Doctor: "Who is with Mr Smith?"

Cassandra: "Us"

Doctor: "miss..?"

Cassandra: "Crawford"

Doctor: "Ms Crawford, can I have a word with you in private"

The doctor was taking me to his room, but I was getting scared about what he wanted to talk to me in private; I hope William is fine and nothing terrible happened to him

Doctor: "have a seat, Ms Crawford" I saw down, but my legs were shaking

Cassandra: "what is it, doctor?" I asked very scaredly

Doctor: "Mr Smith is in a temporary coma."

Cassandra: "what?" I was shocked

Doctor: "I know it's hard to take the news, but it's a common side effect of Haemorrhage, ma'am."

Cassandra: "Doctor, will he get better?" I asked hopefully

Doctor: "totally Ms Crawford, he is already reciprocating to the treatment, and he would take a few more days, not anymore."

Cassandra: "thank you, doctor," I said with a bit of happiness cause William was not in danger

Doctor: "could you also please call his blood relatives as fast as possible."

I came out and saw Daniel and the boys made their way back, and everybody had a very questioning face

Cassandra: "he is in a temporary coma caused by a haemorrhage which will be treated in a few days" as I said there faces became emotionless

Charlotte: "Is he in danger."

Cassandra: "not at all, and he is reacting well to the treatment" now everyone looked a bit happy

I walked to the ICU door and saw William through the glass, and I saw a lot of pipes were connected to him, and it crushed me into pieces to see him like this and Haley came and comforted me and took me back to the seats

Cassandra: "Can you guys please inform his parents and siblings?" I said, looking at Charlotte and Charles

Charlotte: "he has no one else except us, Betty."

My heart clenched hearing that, and I went back to the doctor's office to ask why he needed blood relatives.

Cassandra: "Doctor, why do you need his blood relatives?"

Doctor: "nothing serious, ma'am, for signing documents and, if needed, some blood."

I decided I would stand ahead and take Williams complete responsibility

Cassandra: "We are his family, sir; I will sign all the documents and which blood group do you need?"

Doctor: " O negative, which is very rare."

Lucky me, I'm, O negative too

Cassandras: "mine is O negative sir, I will give the blood whenever you need."

Doctor: "Okay, Ms Crawford, here are the documents you have to sign for us to proceed further with treatment, and I'm also thinking you will make the payment."

I signed the documents and turned to the doctor to answer him

Cassandra: "I will make the full payment myself."

The doctor asked his assistant to show me the accounts departments, and once I paid the entire amount, I went back and sat along with my friends and saw how all of them were very tired.

Cassandra: "guys, I'll stay back; you guys go and take some rest and get back in the morning."

Haley: "We are not leaving you like this, Betty."

Cassandra: "Hales, please understand I'm staying back; you guys, go ahead and please clean up, rest and come back," I said in a very irritated tone.

They realised I was angry they accepted and left. Once they left, I started to think of William; what did Charlotte mean when she said we are all he has? How could a man as lovely as William does not have a family? And that could be the reason behind his cold, self-centred, reserved behaviour. What if he does not have a family by blood? We are all his family, and he means a lot to us, and I will stand by him whenever he needs me. Lost in my thoughts, I slowly slipped into sleep.
