Caroline's P.O.V

A week has past since the baby shower and I feel tired, like always. This baby is draining all my energy out of me. I'm rationing on blood, probably one drop every few hours, which is killing me, Stefan isn't helping, well he is helping, just helping decorate the baby room. We've decided to paint it a light blue. The cot was mine when I was a baby, I'm therefore glad my mum kept it, it has come to good use.

Being 5 months pregnant as a vampire is hard.

"Stefan, we need names." I said as he climbed into our bed. He lay down and put his head to my bump.

"Hello?" He asked. "Baby Salvatore, you there?"

"Stefan what are you doing?"

"I'm talking to our baby. All they've heard is your moaning and foul language, it's time they heard something else." He chuckled. I hit his shoulder and laughed.

"Shut up."

"So baby Salvatore, could you tell us your gender, we are stuck on names and it'd help if we knew."

"Aah. They kicked Stefan. It hurt, we have a feisty one."

"They get it off their mother."

"Be quiet Stefan." He chuckled and kissed my bump. I smiled and he pulled himself up so he sat up with me. "I love you Stefan."

"I love you too, Caroline." He planted a kiss in my forehead, I then rested my head on his shoulder.

Bonnie's P.O.V

I went over to the Salvatore boarding house to meet Elena and Damon. I've been distance I feel, but I've had to research what this pregnancy will mean in the future. I've researched and well the consequences are brutal, no wonder the spell was so easy.

"Hey Elena. Damon."

"Morning Bon-Bon." Damon said smiling. "What can we do for you?"

"It's about Caroline and Stefan and the baby."

"What's wrong, and why come to us?" Elena asked.

"Well I've researched into the spell and the pregnancy. It isn't good."

"Why, what is it?" Damon asked, his voice sounded concerned and it should be.

"Nature balances out what witches have done. Immortality, there are now doppelgängers. You saw what happened with Katherine and the cure."

"We get the idea, Bonnie."

"Well there's a risk with the end months of the pregnancy, Caroline is going to need to have a lot of blood. And if she doesn't get it she'll probably do whatever it takes to get some. That includes getting rid of the problem-"

"The baby." Damon said and I nodded.

"If she can control herself then she gives birth, she'll want to feed, she's practically starving herself. She could easily go on a ripper phase. Which will be bad. We know that."

"What can we do?"

"We can help her give birth early, it'll mean the baby's chances of survival are lower, but it'll save Caroline."

"We have to make sure this baby survives. Imagine what it would do to Caroline if the baby died."

"I know, Elena. I'm working on finding some spells." Damon nodded and stood up. "Wait Damon, there's more."

"What is it?"

"If the baby was to survive all that, they'll only live for 6 years."

"What!"

"Bonnie, what does that mean?"

"It means unless they are turned into a vampire, the child will die slowly over a period of a year." Damon and Elena looked at each other, Elena's eyes were watering.

"We have to tell them."

"Not yet." I said. "I'm trying to find spells to make sure they will live without having to be turned into a vampire."

"It'll be okay." Damon reassured us, but he didn't sound confident which scared me.
