it had been a few days since the whole finding my mom and the other human.

the entire thing was hard for me to process. we still didn't have any sort of answers on how myself and eda were blood related. this realm didn't have some sort of dna testing that wasn't authorized by the emperor. meaning we'd have to go to belos to get.

"morning!" luz welcomed as i entered the living room.

i smiled. "just morning."

"just morning?" king asked as i took a sear next to him, "don't you mean good morning?"

"if it were a good morning, i'd have answers on me and eda being related." i answered truthfully. my hand trailed up to king's neck, as i began to lightly scratch it.

lilith was still asleep and i had no idea what eda was doing. luz closed the book that she had been reading. "that's- that's a fair point. and i've been thinking on the matter too." i turned my head to look at her. "and before i make my final conclusion, i'll need some answers if that's okay with you!"

i laughed a little and smiled. "why not!" a few sparks lit up in luz's eyes.

"okay," she stood up, "let me get my notebook and we can get started." she quickly darted out of the room and to our shared bedroom.

"hey, kiddo." eda said taking a seat next to me. "whatcha doing?"

king, now seated in my lap, had fallen asleep to me petting him. "luz is helping me figure out how we're mother and child." i answered happily. eda groaned. "what?" my eyebrow arched.

"why does it matter?" she asked. "i mean, aren't you loving the mystery of your life now?"

i shrugged. "i mean, yeah, i guess. but its never really been a problem for me before. it feels like there's this piece of my life just broke off and i need to figure out how to glue it back into place."

"got it!" luz exclaimed, jumping over the back of the couch and taking her seat again. "oh, good morning, eda." she smiled.

"morning, luz." eda stood up from her seat and walked out.

luz flipped open her notebook, which was a small, lavender purple covered note pad that was in the shape of a paw print. if i saw anyone else with it, i would gotten up and left. but i knew luz pretty closely, so i dealt with it. "okay, first things first. where were you born?"

"peachtree city, georgia.

"birth date?"

"october 31st."

luz's mouth dropped, "you were born on halloween?!"

i laughed lightly, "yep!"

we went on for about an hour of questions. "and last one. what's your dad's name?"

"uh, his name was, uh, cal. i think. or maybe it was clay. i don't remember." i stated. "once i let off a firework spell on accident, and he kicked me out of the house. i was like six or seven. i haven't seen him since."

luz dropped the note pad and rushed over to give me a hug. "i'm so sorry about that." as she pulled away from the hug, i smiled.

"thanks." i moved king off of my lap. "well, i'm going on a walk. care to join me?" i asked, standing from my seated position.

"no, thanks." luz shook her head, "i'm gonna try to get some answers. thanks for the offer though!"

i smiled, "okay. have fun!" i grabbed my cloak from the rack and left the owl house.

the sky was its normal light blue. as i got closer to town, i decided to put my hood on to where no one could see my face. but i mainly worried about someone seeing my ears. the square was slightly more crowded than the other day. i didn't know what i was doing but i letting my feet guide me.

i entered a small shop. the aisles were lined with small toys and other useless things for kids to convince their parents to get them. nothing really peaked my interest, as i had expected. but as i got closer to the door, a weird feeling grew in my gut. i didn't know what it was trying to tell me.
