Seohae sat up at once, sweat dripping down her temples.

She took a moment to take deep breaths, getting a grip on where she was. She wasn't in the hostile, haunting room anymore but in her cozy bed. She heaved a sigh of relief to know that was just a dream.

Her panting soon slowed down to normal breathing, and her eyes searched for Hanseok but the other half of the bed was empty. Just like Seohae had... wished. Just like Seohae had told Hanseok to.

She realised the other pillow was in her arms, which Hanseok had replaced himself with.

The other side of the bed was still warm. She looked at the clock. It was 7 am. She convinced herself it was a good that he left, so there would be ample time for him to escape. She gazed at the empty side of the bed. 2 years and 10 months had just ended like that.

She got up and walked around the room, taking out everything that reminded her of Hanseok. If he was gone, there was no point in remembering him. If Vincenzo had caught him, there was an even stronger reason to get rid of everything that had the slightest indication of Hanseok.

She took out the bed sheets that he had laid on, and deleted every photo of him, or any photo he took of her in her phone. She deleted their chat history and deleted his contact, getting a little emotional when she went through their messages for the last time.

Lastly, she took off the ring that sat comfortably on her left ring finger. She took a minute to admire it, she had not really taken a good look at the ring in the past years. It was too expensive for its design, the small diamond embedded in the plain matte gold ring. She thought back to the first time Hanseok put it on her. Neither of them wanted to do it at that time.

Even if they did have any feelings towards each other then, it marked their journey. The start of the journey that would end in doom.

She threw it away and made a last round around her house, making sure everything that needed to be out was thrown away.

The wine bottles and glasses from the previous night had already been cleared, neatly stored away in the kitchen cupboards.

Meanwhile, Hanseok went to make sure everything about Babel was in place, from its pharmaceutical sector to the financial sector. He went to check the finances.

$0.00

He blinked to make sure he was seeing the right thing, then logged out and logged back in again.

$0.00

His frown deepened, and he refreshed the page. Still the same number staring at him.

Fuck, He thought.

He immediately called Seohae, since she was in charge of this sector.

The ringing seemed to go on forever.

"The number you have dialed is not available, please leave a voice message after the tone." The robotic voice instructed, and a beeping sound followed. He spammed Seohae with messages before resulting to calling Myunghee. She came rushing in a second. She too, checked everything before confirming all their money was indeed gone.

"Call Mdm In, she'll know what to do." Myunghee said after she confirmed all their funds were gone.

"I did, she's not picking up."

"What?" It was unusual of Seohae not to pick up.

"You don't think..." Myunghee started, her eyes full of suspicion.
