(This happens a few chapters ago, way before Hanseok dies. I'll move it a few chapters up soon)
"Cheers!" The five of them clinked their glasses together, some spilling onto their hands. They laughed and poured the drinks down their throat.
They sat around the round table, Hanseo and Hanseok sitting next to Seohae and Seungheuk and Myunghee on the other side. The restaurant was filled with people celebrating the end of the year with all their loved ones.
Everyone dressed their best today, and even Myunghee put on some make up. The brothers had their hair combed back.
"Everything is on me today, feel free to order what you like!" Hanseok said and they cheered. Hanseo bowed clumsily that his head almost slammed onto the table, already tipsy. "Thank you Chairman Jang! You're the best."
Seohae laughed at him and pulled his glass away. "I don't know if that's a good idea or not."
"Oh right, we were supposed to celebrate the end of the year with our sponsors, what if they end the partnership with us?" Seungheuk asked, slightly concerned.
"Don't worry about that, we can always make up with the New year celebration tomorrow." Hanseok replied, looking at Seohae and she nodded, agreeing.
Truth was, he wanted to celebrate the new year with Seohae, to experience the cliché new year kiss instead of meeting people he only saw once or not even at all. After the dinner, they would go outside to countdown to the fireworks and Hanseok wanted to bring Seohae to the building's rooftop to celebrate it alone with her.
The food came and they all devoured in, talking and laughing about moments that happened this year. Unlike previous years, there was no tension between them and they ate, drank and laugh like any other family.
"Let me tell you something I saw." Hanseo leaned forward, his fingers on his chin. His eyes lost its focus, already drunk from the alcohol. Everybody leaned forward too.
"I saw Seohae fighting with a printer once! Cursing in French at a printer!" The table erupted in laughter again, except for Seohae who only gave a fake serious face which gave way to a smile soon after. She rolled her eyes, giving Hanseo a light slap.
"At least better than the time you tried to buy a new printer because you ran out of ink."
Hanseo gave an embarrassed laugh, rubbing the back of his head.
It was the first time any of them felt so carefree, so engrossed in conversations and laughing so hard some started to snort and lose their breath, or even choke on the drink, making them laugh even harder. For the first time, they felt like they were a family.
The food was gone, in their stomach before they knew it and they just sat around the table quietly, slumping into their seats and falling into a food coma.
"I have to go to the restroom." Seohae said and excused herself. Hanseok nodded.
"Hyung, you really like Mdm In, don't you?" Hanseo asked, leaning into him with his hands on her empty seat.
"Definitely!" Seungheuk added. "Reminds me of the days when I was young." He gives a dreamy sigh.
Hanseok just gave a smile and buried his face in his palms. They felt him kick his legs under a table, like an excited kid.
"She looks so good today." He squealed. None of them were sober.
Meanwhile, Seohae had finished easing herself and she walked out of the bathroom, only to have a girl bump into her and run into the restroom.
She wasn't going to pursue things to ruin the night, but she sensed something was wrong. More than the younger girl being drunk or badly needing to pee, but like she was running away from something.
