Aurora couldn't sleep that night. It was around 3 in the morning and she was tossing and turning, she hadn't even taken off her dress from the day before, her boots were still on and her gloves lay next to her.
All she could think about was Moody. Those stupid thoughts kept flooding her head. Thoughts about him. Their last interaction. How he was doing.
Finally she had enough. She stood as quietly as possible, grabbing her bag and slipping on her gloves and her hat, throwing a scarf around her neck before slipping out of her bedroom door, checking to make sure no one else was up. Aurora crept into the kitchen and out the front door, immediately switching to a sprint once she was further away.
At first she planned on going to Moodys, but as thoughts raced through her mind, she decided Charlie was her best option. He was always awake at this hour for one reason or another.
By the time Aurora reached Charlie's house, her lungs were burning from the cold air and her head ached. Her bones ached from running and she seemed to struggled to even lift her arm to knock on his window that was fairly high for the first floor.
In a matter of seconds, the window flew open, revealing Charlie who looked wide awake.
"And what can I do for you fair young madden?" Charlie leaned on the windowsill, a small smile playing upon his lips.
"Charlie." Aurora snapped back. "Get me in your window."
"Fine fine." Charlie gave in, reaching a hand out of Aurora to grab.
They struggled a bit, but they managed to get the girl inside, making a small thud when she hit the ground.
"Is there a reason you're here so late?" Charlie asked, sitting on the edge of his bed while Aurora stood and dusted off her dress.
"Why else would I have come here?" Aurora rolled her eyes.
"I don't know," Charlie shrugged. "To confess your undying love for me?"
"In your dreams." Aurora laughed, flopping on her back onto his bed, still breathing heavily.
"Ok, ok, lets get to the main topic here." Charlie turned to Aurora, resting his head in his hands.
Aurora took a deep breath, trying to pick out the best words of what she was about to tell Charlie, but there was really only one way to put it.
"I think I'm in love with Moody." She blurted, covering her mouth as soon as her words slipped out.
Charlie didn't act the slightest bit surprised, instead he began to laugh, fake wiping "tears" from his eyes.
Aurora was confused, she crossed her arms in embarrassment. She felt like either crying or laughing along with Charlie, though her stomach was twisted into one huge knot.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's just I knew you'd figure it out one day." Charlie finally stopped laughing, but his grin was still plastered across his face.
"What do you mean?" Aurora furrowed her brows, glaring at the boy.
"I mean, you both are so in love with each other I'm pretty sure someone like me would know." Charlie explained, leaving Aurora still confused.
"Moody's not in love with me," Aurora sputtered. "And I just figured out my feelings."
"Whatever you say." Charlie bit back his smile.
"Okay, you know what, I'm leaving, the suns gonna rise soon." Aurora rolled her eyes, beginning to gather herself to head out of the boys house.
"Listen, Aurora." Charlie began. "I'll keep your secret, but you're gonna have to tell Moody sooner or later."
