Eleven - First date

Violet Mae POV

It's been a long time since I've been on a date with anyone. Jacob didn't do dates. We dated, but we never went out. And whenever we did,he just made comments on my weight and how I needed to be skinnier like other girls.

To say I'm nervous would be an understatement. I've been dressed for twenty minutes, just sitting on my couch, bouncing my leg and watching Arthur and Vivian play a game on the TV.

My nerves are going haywire and I can barely sit still. I get up yet again and pace from the living room, to the kitchen, and back.

I guess this gets on my step dad's nerves because he sighs and says, "Sweetheart, sit down. It'll be fine."

"I'm sorry I'm just-" I begin before he cuts me off.

"Nervous. I get it. But pacing won't help."

"Sorry." I sit back down and continue bouncing my leg.

"Bouncing your leg won't help either."

"Then what should I do?"

"Sit still and wait. It'll be fine."

"Says you."

"Trust me. It will, or so help me God."

I swallow nervously just as I hear Shawn's car pull up. "He's here."

"Okay. Have fun. Call if you'll be late."

"I will bye."

"Bye. Love you."

"Love you too."

I leave the house and head to Shawn's car to see him exiting the car with flowers in his hand. We meet in the middle and he sighs. "I was gonna meet you at the door. You should have waited."

"Sorry. Nerves." I smile sheepishly.

He smiles and shakes his head before giving me the flowers. "These are for you. I hope you like them."

"I love them. Thank you."

"Ready to go?"

I nod and allow him to lead me to the passenger side and help me in before he rounds the car and gets in his side, driving off.

"So where are we going?" I ask.

"It's a surprise."

"Well it must not be anywhere fancy if you told Olive to tell me to wear something casual."

"Olivia asked and I had to tell her, then she said my version of casual and yours were totally different so I told her to tell you the translation of my casual. I guess they're not that different at all."

I laugh and shrug. "She just told me to wear jeans and a shirt. No other direction really."

"That's fine. You look great."
