"Why did you cry yourself to sleep at night?" asked his mother in the morning.

It was a damp Saturday; there was a drizzle of rain patting against the windows, it was cold and the air smelt of wet grass. Despite it being 11 am, it was peaceful. No work. No stress. No worries.

"Renjun?"

"Hm? Yes, mom?" answered back the male once he snapped out of his dazed state. His hair was dishevelled as he ruffled it before stretching and letting out a yawn.

"Why did you cry at night sweetie? Did something happen?"

The boy's eyebrows furrowed as he could not recall what happened until it suddenly clicked in his brain.

"Oh." He tried thinking for a plausible excuse. "Ehm, school is just stressing me, that's all."

Mei raised a brow. She knew her son inside out, he wasn't the type to cry over something like this. But she decided not to question. "Don't overwork yourself, ok? Now sit down to eat."

"Where's dad?"

"He had to go work early today, said there was something important he had to do at the police station."

Renjun ate his toast whilst listening with curiosity. "Does he have a new case?"

"For the past few weeks, he's been getting anonymous reports and complaint letters from someone about a teacher sexualising students. There are no details given except for the initials L.J written at the bottom. They got more letters, but this time from the initials H.H."

Gulping, Renjun remained silent as he finished breakfast, an uneasy feeling settling in his stomach.
