chapter four
(galvanize)

Sofia had spent the last 20 minutes freaking out in her new bathroom. All she could think about was her mother. How would Mireya have reacted to her being in this type of situation?

On one hand, Sofia assumed she'd be furious. On the other, however, she knew how much her mother secretly hated the "family business" near the end.

What Sofia didn't know is how much Mireya fought for her safety and happiness. She wasn't aware of how joyful Mireya would be to see her daughter doing exactly what she wanted.

Sofia splashed some water on her face and tried to calm herself down. It wasn't the end of the world, right? She would have to suffer through the Hale's of course, but it meant she had safe keeping away from her former hell hole.

How much worse could it possibly be?

"Would you shut up," Sofia heard as soon as she exited her temporary room.

"Well, excuse me for wanting you to be mindful of it," Peter yelled back sarcastically.

Sofia noticed the two wolves staring one another down from across the room, "Hey, what's going on?"

Derek rolled his eyes, "This is none of your business."

The two men continued yelling at one another, apparently over how to reattach Peter's finger. Sofia couldn't handle all the testosterone and interrupted once more.

"Can you guys just calm down for a minute."

Derek scoffed, "We are trying to fix your family's doing, so don't tell us to calm down."

Sofia let out a sarcastic breathy sound and slowly nodded her head, "Right,"

"I'm sorry, is there a problem?" Derek turned to face the girl.

A sarcastic laugh sounded from the girl, "Nope. None at all."

Derek speedily made his way over to the 24-year-old. The two were standing in each other's face. "Are we gonna have an issue?"

"I don't know, are we?" Sofia shot back.

"Guys, my finger," Peter interluded from behind them.

"Not now," both parties shouted without taking their eyes off the other.

"I must be really stupid for thinking this would work out. You're a Hale after all, god knows how many innocent lives you've taken," Sofia, refusing to stand down, said.

"Wow," Derek laughed sarcastically. "That's rich coming from you, Calavera," he spat, "I could say the exact same thing."

The two continued to glare at one another for a moment. Peter once again breaking the silence.
