Couple's Therapy

Last Time Together....

For the next few days Ben attended the couples retreat alone hoping that Miranda would eventually show up and work this out, but she never did. So he tried to learn everything for the both of them.

"So what do we call you?", Alexis asked as she was stuffing her face.

"Ummm that's up to you, whatever makes you feel comfortable is fine with me", Ben said.

"Well I'm not calling you dad. I don't even know you!", Aiden said sitting there playing with his food.

Alexis kicked Aiden under the table. "Stop!", he yelled. "It's the truth and I don't need a pop up so called dad whose wife doesn't even want us!", he said upset and getting up to leave the table.

Aiden had followed Ben to the bar that day him Miranda were arguing in front of everyone.

Ben started to go after him and Alexandra stopped him. "Don't this is his usual tantrum that he does on a daily. If you feed into him he'll drag it out."

"So is that how you deal with things when it comes to him?", Ben asked.

"I don't see anyone else here helping me with him and it actually working." Ben was annoyed.

Alexis was teary eyed.

"Alexis baby what's wrong?", Alexandra asked.

"Ben is it true? About your wife, that she doesn't want me and my brother?"

"You don't have to worry about her baby.....you're only going to be with mommy anyways", Alexandra said rolling her eyes at Ben.

"Ben?", Alexis said still sad.

He walked over to her and bent down by her chair. "I know you're smart enough to understand so I'm just going to tell you the truth. My wife Miranda has a son who's a little bit older than you and your brother, but when she was pregnant with him there was a lot of complications that resulted in her not being able to have anymore. She wants to give me a family just as much as I want one with her, but because she can't I told her that I'm happily okay with just raising her son Tuck with her which I am."

"But?!", Alexis said.

"But when she found out that I have you two beautiful little ones who act and look just like me, it's incredibly hard for her to watch us all be together. She feels that I'll leave her and her son now that I have kids of my own, which is why she said she didn't want you and your brother. She only said it out of hurt and anger though."

"Well is she right?"

"No Alexis! She's not right. I'm not going to leave her or her son or you and Aiden. I want all of you and to raise you all together as a family. Tuck always wanted to be a big brother and you having your own personal body guards 24/7 sounds nice doesn't it", he smiled and she smiled back nodding her head yes.

"That's bullshit. Don't feed my child with you and your messed up wife lies", Alexandra said from across the table.

Ben stood up. "That will be the last time you speak of my wife in a disrespectful way. And I'm serious. I will make this situation between all of us more difficult than it has to be. Don't tempt me!", he said in a stern voice and she sat quiet.

"I want to meet her Ben. I want to meet your wife!", Alexis said and Ben teared up hugging her. "I'm sorry was it okay that I hugged you?", Ben asked and she nodded yeah. "I'll try and make that happen", he said.

Miranda stayed in the room the next few days alone while Ben got to know his kids a little. All she would do was cry, eat and sleep.

Ben had been staying with Alexandra and the kids in the spare room conjoined to hers. Even though he was trying to get to know his kids all he could think about was Miranda and how he wished they all could be together.
