Couple's Therapy

His & Her Feelings: Session 3

As Ben walked over to try and console her she moved and pushed him away.

"Miranda do you feel supported by your husband?"

Chelsea pulled Ben around and placed him and Miranda back to back.

"Not anymore", she sniffled when she felt Ben's back up against hers.

Ben put his head down.

"Why not anymore?", Chelsea asked.

"Because I can't remember the last time he's been there for me."

Ben tried to turn around and hold Miranda and Chelsea stopped him. "What kind of support do you need Miranda? Understand when she explains Benjamin, that you need to support her in the way she needs. Just like loving someone in their love language it's just the same."

"I need him to take the load off of me, the kids, the house, bills as in balancing everything sometimes. I need to unload how I feel when I come home from work. I need to be held like he use to hold me and not because I'm sad or hurt, but because he craves my scent and touch. I need to unload why I need him more then anything now."

"What do you mean by now Miranda?"

It was hard for Miranda to say the next thing and Chelsea saw that. "Ben reach back and grab her hands and don't let go no matter what and Miranda let him!"

As soon as he grabbed her hands more tears fell and she tried to break free from his hands. "Miranda talk, what's hurting you right now?"

"I love my son dearly and I'm beyond grateful for him, but I often wonder if I never had him would I be able to have kids now."

"With Benjamin?!"

"Yes. I want to carry his children. It's just not fair! I feel like I'm not a complete woman or wife for him because I can't give him something that I'm made to do and he wants as well."

"Benjamin do you want children with Miranda?"

"Yeah!"

"When you found out that she couldn't, did that change how you saw her?"

"No!"

"Did it change how you felt about her, how you love her?"

"No!"

"Would it ever?"

"No!"

"I know Miranda you said you offered for Ben's kids to stay with yall, but Benjamin have or did you ever consider her feelings regarding not being able to carry yours and how she would feel? Be honest!"

"I just saw how great she is with Tuck and......."

"So basically no", Chelsea said and he felt bad.

"Miranda how does Ben's children being around make you feel?"

"Mixed feelings. I love having them around, but I hate that they're not mines."

"What about Joey?", Ben said.

"Wait who's Joey?", Chelsea asked.

"He was a patient of mines and I found out he was homeless and I took him in during the time Ben and his kids were in the hospital and now he lives with us permanently."

"Interesting. Miranda why is it that you can accept Joey, but not Ben's kids as your own?"

"Because Joey came from no one meaning there's no one to take him away from me. Then there's Ben's kids who their mother can take Ben and his kids from me."
