It was Saturday around 4 pm, Emma and Millie were getting ready for the game. Caleb was already at the Staples Center for a pre- game prep.
"White or black boots?" Millie asked.
"Girl just pick one!" Emma said.
"This is gonna be the first time everyone sees me publicly as his girlfriend and his first announcement as apart of the team. Everyone is gonna be on my ass." She walked in circles.
"Girl, no one cares! Not to be rude but he's a new player, he'll get some buzz for a week and they'll forget. You might get a few more thousand and that's it." Emma put her hands on her shoulders relaxing her.
"Your right, thanks for being so brutally honest." Millie joked as she looked at her phone.
"Alright the ride is here!" Millie grabbed her purse and light jacket.
"Let's go." Emma grabbed her things. They went into a black suburban with tinted windows. The driver didn't talk much, took us straight to the Staples center. Since we weren't big yet we had one body guard escort us to our seats. Not many people knew who we were but wondering why we got this treatment. Emma and I chatted while the seats started filling in I saw Caleb make a 3 pointer and wink at me.
"Ooo girl! Ahaha." Emma laughed.
"Good luck." Millie mouthed across the court, she can tell he understood her.The stadium went quiet when the lights cut off. The red and blue lights flickered throughout the stadium. They started announcing the players..
"WE HAVE KAWHI LEONARD." The crowd went crazy after each name.
"PAUL GEORGE."
"ERIC BLEDSOE."
"REGGIE JACKSON."
"BRANDON BOSTON JR."
"LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS. CALEB ROBINSON." The announcer yelled into the gold microphone. The crowd roared, it seemed the moment was in slow motion. The way he ran across the court with his new team. Of course Emma and I clapped the loudest screaming at the top of our lungs. Millie wasn't a big fan of basketball, although she wrote a small poetry about basketball while watching. Emma was on her phone most of the time. The score was 117-89 to Portland Trailblazers. They got a ride back home and Caleb played for about a quarter or two. She was proud. He was finally on the big screen like he dreamed of. She made some brownies as a snack when he got home. Since he was in such a big position he couldn't just hop in our jeep and ride home.
"Hey-, wow what's this?" He smiled while licking his lips.
"Just a small I'm proud of you desert." Millie took off her apron.
"Thanks, I signed my first few autographs today." He grabbed a brownie from the hot pan.
"Aw, that sounds cool." Millie added.
"But I some suckish news." He looked down.
"What is it?" She asked.
"The season is starting early; we got a load of new games coming in and i'm going to a away game in Texas on Monday." He looked in her eyes.
"Oh, that's my first day of work. I mean, it's fine. Do what you have to do." She looked down.
"I'm so sorry, I wouldn't miss your day for the world but I have to." He said.
"Yeah. Totally." She said.Millie knew this was going to happen eventually, but definitely not this fast. Was this going to be the rest of her life? Being stuck at home with her minor accomplishments while her husband is making 100k at each game. Taking the money he sends home and buying a gucci bag going to my home in Beverly Hills. It was a bit much at the time, but she would slowly get into the rhythm. It was like a military wife, they know their out for something good but it's affecting things in the relationship. For this case Caleb sends a few thousand home to his family who are struggling in Texas. Which is probably why he jumped at the opportunity in the first place. They spent their Sunday together undocumented. He had to leave late that night around 10 PM.
"Ima see you later baby." He adjusted his travel bag.
"Bye.. see you Thursday love." She kissed him and hugged didn't wanting to let go.
He walked out the door and she got ready for bed because of her interview the next morning.
