"Hey sweetheart!" Your mom smiled as she hopped out the Black Jeep Cherokee.
"Hey!" Millie and her mom hugged as her dad came through the side of the car.

They all embraced and said a few words.

"Let's see the fully furnished rooms." Mom was excited to see.

Millie walked them through the door and Emma quickly closed her closet.

"Hello! Mr. and Mrs. Robinson." Emma said.

Millie and Emma showed them around the room and said every bit of detail. Emma left the room to give them some privacy.

"Grades are looking good. Are you eating well?" Dad asked.
"Atlanta food has never been good, but i've been surviving." Millie replies.
"I brought my famous cornbread!" Mom brought out of her goodie bag.
"Oo, my favorite." Millie smiled.
"We should get going, traffic is really bad."

Millie waved as her parents drove off. She walked back to the dorm sat next next to Emma.

"Are your parents really not coming? I really wanna meet them." Millie asked.
"..." Emma was silent.
"Is everything okay? Wanna talk about it?" Millie got concerned.
Emma was still silent for a moment until she said, "My Dad left before I when I was born, my mom went completely downhill. She started drinking, smoking, getting high, the worst of the worst. Left me at home by myself while she went to the club to meet up with men. She would bring them home while I was in my bed at age of 6 and they would barge in and-." Emma started bawling.
"Oh my god- I had no idea." A tear fell down Millie's face after hearing her truth, and gave her a big embrace.
"So, that's why I'm always here. As far away as I can. I worked multiple jobs growing up so I can afford dorms and a car to get out of that environment." Emma sniffled.
"I'm so sorry to hear that."

THE NEXT DAY

As Millie was walking around campus she saw Caleb run toward her.

"What's up." Caleb said.
"Hey." As Millie re-adjusted her book bag.
"Coming to my game, it's in like a hour?" He smiled.
"Yeah sure, I'm free. Look for me in the bleachers." She smiled back.

He winked and ran to the gym as he was late to pre-workout. Millie walked slowly while scrolling through Pinterest pinning box braid hairstyles. She finally got to the gym and sat on the bleachers closest to the wall.

"Hey!" Daria waved.
"Huh?" Millie looked up.
"My baby is on the team, #3." She blushed.
"Yeah.." Millie went back to writing in her notebook.
"What are you writing." She peeked over at her notebook.
"Just a short story for my writing course, nothing crazy. I'm just brainstorming some ideas." Millie looked stressed.
"Aww, that sucks." Daria clapped as Cameron made a score.
"Oh my god! You are my idea, the way you met, how you are now! All of it!" Millie grinned and got to work.

AFTER THE GAME

Millie was still writing and it was 6:45 PM.
Caleb tapped her shoulder and her eyes slowly blinked while looking up.

"Enjoy the game?" He chuckled.
"Sorry, I got so caught up in this story. This should be good to turn in tomorrow." Millie closed her notebook.
"What do you study here?" Caleb asked.
"English language and literature. What about you?" She looked into his brown eyes.
"Economics." He replied.
"Wow, wouldn't see you as a business type guy." She let out a sleepy chuckle.
"Let me get you back to your dorm." He held his hand out so she can grab and hop off the bleachers.

They walked and talked, about a lot of things. How it was living here, roommates, parties, and let me tell you It was just getting started.

"Here I am." She said as they were in front of "Dawn Hall".
"Goodnight beautiful." He smirked.

They glared in each other's eyes for a bit and almost leaned in for a kiss until some construction workers made a noise and ruined the moment.

"Night." She smiled as she walked through the glass doors.
