Chapter 7- Moxi Motel

We snuck around through the night and avoided the humanoids surprisingly well, we raided the small convenience stores for snack and filled up duffle bags rather quick.

We mostly grabbed lunch meats, bottled water and other drinks that could help keep us healthier than sodas, we grabbed vitamins and over the counter medications like pain killers, and then some bandages and first-aid kits from behind the counter and in the back of some stores.

We kept going back under the cover of darkness and everyone even started thanking us a week into our outside 'adventures' as I tried to call them, trying to make it seem less like we were being used and more like we were volunteering to do this.

I mean, everyone was thankful for the food and water and especially Yu-ri was thankful for all the medications we could get her for Gil-seob and his health. Now I really shouldn't say everyone was thankful, eventually people like Byung-il gave in and thanked us once or twice, but Suk-hyun didn't thank us once... his wife did it for him and even then she got cussed out when she did that.

Finally we were sent out with four duffle bags this time and were focused on anything that was survival supplies but we needed to go a bit further away from our small survival base.

We stayed with what worked best and snuck around at night and eventually had to sleep so we took turns sleeping while the other kept watch. It took us three days to find some viable survival supplies and even then we only filled up two duffle bags, one of food and I filled one with scrap metal and wire and other resources for me and Du-sik.

"Here... let's rest here, it's dawn." I suggested and we entered the staff room of a small gun store. I barricaded the door as Hyunsoo sat down on the couch by the refrigerator.

"You can get first rest." Hyunsoo said.

"Are you sure?" I questioned and he nodded. I yawned and set my bags down as a pillow on the couch and laid down as he stood up and leaned against the wall. I let the exhaustion take over me. Carrying those bags while hiding from monsters and running between hiding spots was just so tiring all the time.

I woke up to sudden banging on the door. I opened my eyes to see Hyunsoo barely holding the barricades to the door.

"What happened?" I asked and quickly got up and grabbed all my stuff and had my weapon in hand.

"I heard someone yelling for help so I went to check and it was someone already turned acting like someone normal-"

"I don't think there is a normal anymore Hyunsoo." I sighed and grabbed his hand and thought of something that made me angry or scared. It wasn't hard since there was a monster literally about to get us. I saw multiples of me and Hyunsoo in the room and we lifted the barricades and ran around the monster before running out in broad daylight until my hallucinations started wearing off.

We had a far enough head start that we could find a place to hide.

"This place ahead looks boarded up." Hyunsoo said and pulled me closer to the abandoned looking building. I looked up at this bright pink sign with white neon letters spelling out one word.

Moxi Motel

We slipped in the front door and pressed our backs against the door until we heard their feet pass. As I stood there Hyunsoo got a chair and propped it under the door handle to create a little blockade.

We turned around to see this place wasn't abandoned and was just a bit run down; but there was a body at the front desk of someone I'm guessing worked here before all of this.

Hyunsoo motioned his head over to the body and as I raised the weapon Du-sik gave me just incase I needed it, and Hyunsoo lifted up the head.

The body jumped to life and Hyunsoo put the knife to the throat of the man. It startled me so much my hallucinations came out.

"OH! Hello there travellers, there seems to be a lot of you today?" He smiled warmly. "Are you looking to book a room?"

"What?" I questioned.

"Do you have proof of monster-ization?" He asked.

"Again, we ask what?" Hyunsoo asked in reply.

"Well here at the Moxi Motel, we host all sorts of monsters and give them a place to stay. I see you have monster-ization so now to book a room, he just needs proof too." The man explained. I calmed my heart beat and my hallucinations went away.

"Well..... Gi-hun," I said reading from his name tag. "He can't show his because his is his body growing and we wouldn't want to wreck your fine establishment."

"Good point and very thoughtful. Very well! What room would two young lovers want?" We both started blushing immediately.

"No no no we aren't we are just..."

"Friends." I finished for Hyunsoo and he just nodded at my word.

"Fine I shall get you this room, let's go." He got up and began leading us through the hallways and to a room that read 067.

"My personal favourite room." He smiled and we walked in to see a red heart shaped bed and the room was definitely themed 'love'.

"But we said-"

"ENJOY!" Gi-hun completely cut me off and slammed the door shut.

"Well I guess we're staying here for a bit."
