Chapter 14- After a Week

~ Time Skip- One Week Later

We got back at 3am today, the other infectees and us were all exhausted from just overall lack of sleep; we used old trucks and even a bus now so we didn't have to run to town and back, that'd be way too much running.

At least we did amazing at our goal supplies. We got more bottled water which is always good, we salvaged what was left of the non-expired fruits and vegetables at one of the nearer supermarkets, and we also a small bunch of first-aid kits from a medi-clinic they didn't check prior to our arrival.

Wooyoung said we'd have this next night off to just get more sleep and see our friends, but Byeol said I was the reason behind it because I was complaining about no being able to be with Chaeyoung at night, I used to always read her stories but now Myung-sook does. I was kinda jealous.

But the reason Wooyoung told us was because they decided to send us to the hospital next run, a much more dangerous environment meant we needed to do a few scouting runs and then a day or two to get supplies. I mean people would've gone there when they have massive nose bleeds and families would bring others there when they pass out.

It was 10am when I woke up in Hyunsoo's arms, one wrapped around my stomach and the other was letting me use his bicep as a pillow. It was warm and I felt so safe, I just felt so human with him. I was just Chaeyoung's older sister and his girlfriend in this moment.

I had shifted to turn around and look at him but I unintentionally woke him up. I smiled softly as he slowly opened his eyes and I brushed fringe out of his face so I could see his beautiful eyes. He hummed and pulled me closer to his chest and kissed the top of my head.

"G'morning." He slurred sleepily.

I chuckle. "Good morning."

Our next few minutes of peaceful silence was broken by the a PA announcement.

"Breakfast is served."

I sighed and tried to get up but Hyunsoo pulled me back down. I laughed because a week ago he wouldn't have done something like that because we were surrounded by other survivors; now we were alone in our own room and more comfortable with PDA but not public if that makes sense.

He came out of his shell to me this past week, I think he was just happy to get me alone and away from everyone else not to mention was appreciated more than ever even by people like us.

"We have to get up, Wooyoung shuts down the dining hall in 15." I yawned. He sighed deeply before letting me get up. I swung my legs over the side of our full-sized bed and got up to stretch my back which was sore from the backpacks I carried that were heavy with supplies. I didn't bother to change from my sweats and T-shirt, all I did was put on some socks and pulled my hair out of a ponytail so I could brush it.

Hyunsoo got up seconds after I did, he didn't change out of his pajama sweat-set and just brushed his fingers through his hair to comb out the knots.

"Ready?" I asked and after he nodded I opened our room door, letting us both out before locking it with the key I always had on my wrist. Now that I look at it is kinda looked like a key and wristband you'd get from a swimming pool for a locker.

We walked out and met our friends at the door, they had waited for us before getting their own food. Sein, Byeol, Woojin, Minhyuk, Namjoo, and Ren were our closest friends  since we met them before at the Moxi Motel, but everyone was super nice. After grabbing some eggs, grilled spam, and baby carrots, we all sat down to eat. We mostly just talked about how tired we were and how thankful we were to have tonight off.

After breakfast I walked over to our other friends to say 'hi' to them since they seem to be annoyed at me and Hyunsoo for just being friends and hanging out more with the other runners/infectees. The only people who acted the same towards us was Myung-sook who was watching over Chaeyoung, Chaeyoung obviously, Ji-su, Jae-heon, and Eunyoo. Eun-hyuk goes back and forth over the line of 'we are still friends' and 'you abandoned us'.

"Hi." I smiled and Chaeyoung jumped up from her seat to come over to me and give me a hug. I picked her up as she giggled while I spun us around, after a minute I set her on my hip and she hugged her arms around my neck. "How are you Chae?"

"I am good, Ms. Im is taking good care of me. She reads to me and tucks me in and I haven't had any nightmares since we got here!"

"That's amazing!" I smiled fondly and looked to Myung-sook. "Thank you for taking care of her."

"It's no problem, Y/N." She shrugged and smiled back at me.

"Hey Chae." Hyunsoo smiled and Chaeyoung practically jumped off my hip into Hyunsoo. He laughed and held her on his hip like I did, before I knew he apparently he never smiled but now with me he was enjoying life more by laughing and smiling. "Did your sister tell you we have tonight off so she can spend time with you?"

"Really?!" Chaeyoung beamed and I chuckled with a nod. She squealed with excitement as Hyunsoo let her get off his hip. Hyunsoo started talking to our friends and I just talked with Myung-sook and Chaeyoung, they both made me promise to read her a story tonight. But eventually Wooyoung came in to call the infectees over to the door so he could talk to us.

When I stood up it just broke my heart seeing Chaeyoung look so upset, like she was losing me.

We all gathered around and he sighed.

"I need you to make a run today."
