You'd joined the pack and were growing closer to those in it. Willow especially had become a confidant to you. You'd shared trauma from the same pack. That cemented a bond of sorts. Plus she was your son's aunt. She loved him. You could tell.
You were sitting in the back yard on the patio watching Jungkook play with Misha. They were locked in a an intense game of tag. You were joined by Willow and Lily, who'd been coming around Jungkook more.
She was a warrior, strong and fierce. She gave of an intimidating aura. Then Jungkook would smile that toothy, bunny smile of his and she'd melt like butter. You don't think she even realized he was softening her. She was looking at the maknae with such longing and apprehension. You wondered what was going on inside her head.
"He's not going to bite you." Willow said to her.
You chuckled lightly. Willow was smirking.
"I know." She said defensively.
Willow chuckled at her. You sighed deeply.
"It's ok. I understand. Jungkook is a sweetheart. He loves Misha and his brothers more than anything. Once he loves you he's all in." Willow said softly.
"He's so good with the boy. I- I am just afraid that I can't give him that." Lily said her eyes full of tears.
You froze and your heart raced. Cold washed over you. You looked at the young woman near you. Her heartbreak evident on her features.
"What do you mean?" Willow said turning to face her.
"I mean... I was raised in a time and a pack where having a child wasn't in my best interest as a warrior. So that option was taken from me." She said her voice quiet.
You'd heard of that. Someone taking the ability to have pups from females. Many warrior packs did this to ensure loyalty to the pack and not to family. Your heart shattered for her.
Willow took her hand and held it for a long time. Jungkook caught the action and smiled at them. He really was the sweetest. He continued to play with Misha. You came and sat next Willow on the other side.
"I wish it could stay like this." You said softly.
"Me too." Willow and Lily said in unison.
"Eventually shit will hit the fan." Lily said solemnly.
"But not today." You said sighing.
"Not today." Willow said firmly.
Misha ran up to Lily and tapped her arm. She looked at the boy confused. You smiled warmly. You knew what the boys were planning. It was clear from Jungkook's mischievous grin.
"Kookie says you're it." Misha said giggling and ran.
"I'm what?" Lily asked looking at Willow bewildered.
"It's tag. You gotta go catch them." Willow said laughing.
"Either one?" Lily said smirking slightly.
"Go show the Maknae who's boss." You said giggling.
Lily got to her feet. She slowly made her way through the yard. She faked going for Misha before turning, hooking an arm around Jungkook's middle, and had him on the ground. She was straddling him. She leaned down and said something to him. Then dashed away with a smile on her face. Jungkook sat up and stared after her with a look of pure shock. Misha was giggling madly as he ran toward you. You scooped him up and kissed his head.
"Daddy did you see what Lily did to Kookie?" He said.
Misha had begun to call daddy for awhile now. Tae took it in stride. You know how incredibly happy it made him. He wore his pride for everyone to see. It made you love him more.
