"What the hell are you doing here?" Jennie asked as she got off her bed. "How did you even get in here?"
"Oh, I'm not actually here," Rosella responded as she leaned back into the armchair. "All thanks to that bracelet around your wrist."
Jennie's eyes immediately went to the silver chain. "So that's what this stupid thing does? Allow you to project into my mind so we don't have to be together to talk?"
"Amongst other things," Rosella said with a sly smile.
Jennie narrowed her eyes at the older woman. "Like what?"
"I told you I had to fix you," Rosella replied. "You have too much humanity in you, and it's my job as your mother to get rid of it." Jennie scoffed at that but Rosella paid her no mind. "And that is exactly what this bracelet does. Day by day it will slowly strip away whatever is left of your humanity until eventually there is nothing left of it." Rosella told, keeping her voice low as if she was trying to scare Jennie.
Jennie however let out a chuckle. "Hate to break it to you but there is an easier way to accomplish that. It's called a humanity switch." Jennie ridiculed.
Rosella rolled her eyes. "Yes, I'm well aware. However, you flipping your switch is exactly what I want to avoid."
Jennie raised her brow in amusement. "Yeah? And why is that?"
Rosella pushed herself off the armchair and took a few slow steps towards the girl. "If you can flip your switch off then you can easily flip it back on, then we'd be right back to square one. And trust me you have people here who would be hellbent enough to make sure you flipped it back. Not to mention if you flipped your switch right now guaranteed everyone in this school will know by the end of tomorrow, and the last thing I need is the unnecessary attention and drama that will follow." Rosella explained, annoyance clear in her voice. "Now the bracelet slows the process down and makes it less noticeable. It will appear as if it is a natural spiral into darkness, which means fewer questions asked and fewer people getting in our way because by the time it's finished you will have driven away or killed the few people who still care about you. Besides, this way I won't have to worry about you turning on me nor doing anything to ruin my plan."
Jennie took a threatening step towards Rosella so they were face to face. She looked her mother in the eye, challenging her. "And what makes you think I won't?"
"Because that bracelet practically allows me to control you and your every move," Rosella revealed with a smug expression on her face. "All I have to do is snap my fingers or say one word for you to do whatever I want. Think of it as a leash of some sort."
